Wellp, my thinking is that the driver (with onboard charging) is pretty much married to the host, plus it looks like it’s even a driver-in-tailcap design, ie, no mention of having to have the light turned on to charge, in either the description or reviews. And if some putz is returning the light because it doesn’t come with a Crapfire cell even though it says that pretty clearly in the description, you know someone’d be returning it for “not charging”.
And no mention how to switch between flood and throw?
Dunno, sounds like Hell to mod, and worse to keep as-is.
Yes, that is most unfortunate and why I couldn’t bring myself to pay the usual $35 for one, but being as I have a specific albeit seldom use for a small 3000k high cri light, I can deal with the $18 and change it ended up costing.
I did see it claimed somewhere that 14250 batteries can be used with a spacer. Do you know if this is true?
Got my Vokka today. The finish feels good with no sharp edges or visible blemishes. The battery tube is about the diameter and length of a 26650 and has a lot of extra space inside for an 18650 to rattle around, but the springs seem strong enough to prevent it from happening despite a few vigorous attempts. Although there is a tail clicky, it does not completely turn off the light as half presses still turn it on no matter how many clicks you try and no tailcap lockout. USB charging seems to work, nothing special and hopefully it doesn’t compromise water resistance. Brightness seems better than average for a $5 flashlight today. With both LEDs on, the hotspot is not as bright as my Convoy C8, but it is much larger and probably more useful for general use. The color temperature seems to be pleasant, not too cool or warm, I’d guess in the 4k to 5k range. Overall it seems to be a good deal at this price, as long as the parasitic draw doesn’t prematurely kill the battery due to not having a true off or lockout.
Well heck, sorry to hear that. If you unscrew the section behind the clip it will expose the switch and you can try the switch without the rubber cover or silver button potentially interfering.
Possibly use some fine tweezers to make sure the driver is in firmly and the switch as well. Can’t be much more than that?
Or do what non-flashoholic people do: send it back and have a new one sent!
Oh yeh, the other one’s nice. Makes a better vampyre than a 1×AAA light. Tossed in some dead cells, still lit up with rather decent brightness whereas my Wuben/Ultratac 1×AAA lights wouldn’t even turn on.
Got mine today and I agree with Kuoh.
It is pretty darn nice. The matte black ano is really nice, nice threads too.
Each led can light individually. Very bright with a 18650 and not as bright with AAA’s.
