Test/review of Vapcell INR21700 4000mAh (Gold) 2019

Vapcell INR21700 4000mAh (Gold) 2019

Official specifications:

  • Model: INR21700 4000mah 30A

  • Size: 21.6*70.5mm

  • Nominal voltage: 3.60V

  • End-of-charge voltage: 4.20V

  • End-of-discharge Voltage: 2.5V

  • Typical Capacity: 4000mAh (0.2C discharge)

  • Min capacity: 3900mAh (0.2C discharge)

  • Weight: Max:75g

  • Internal resistance: Max:10mOhm AC 1kHz

  • Standard Charge: 1500mA,CCCV 100mA cut-off

  • Quick Charge Current: 3000mA

  • Max Continuous Discharge Current: 30000mA

This is a high current 21700 cell with good capacity.

The two cells match nicely, but do not like a continuous 30A discharge (I only tried that on the first cell). The capacity donot change much with load.

Conclusion

This is a good high current cell, but 30A continuous is too much for the internal fuse.

Thanks for the review, Henrik. Glad I have this cell. On par with 40T and P42, but a bit heavier though.

Looks like a good battery, but strange it doesn’t hold up to the 30A continuous discharge that it states. I wonder how close it is though, like 25A, 28A, 29A?

Thanks for all the testing you do HKJ!

Not really, many brands rates their cell to the limit or slightly above.
The original specification might have stated 30A continuous with cut-out at xx°C

It is a rewrapped 40T

Thank you, Richard. It’s what Vapcell advertises, and also what they told me, but I kind of doubt it. The cell is heavier and wider than the original 40T (74.8g vs 67g and 21.6mm vs 21mm) The inner wrap on the positive pole is black, while the 40T’s is white (apologies, I don’t know if it’s called an inner wrap or not). Personally, I feel like it’s a big brother of the Vapcell 3750mAh (Blue) 2018, which Henrik also tested. These 2 cells are very similar in diameter, weight and the colour of the inner wrap.

Blgg, I would respectfully disagree. The width could be different, at least in part, because Vapecell re-wraps them. This might account for some of the weight too. The Vapecell 3750 has a slightly different looking construction on the top. I think it is probably the same as the Golisi 3750 cell (notice how the different wraps give a very different look on the top when they are on). I don’t think either of those are Samsung’s or the same as this. The top of this cell looks like a 40T. The color difference on the top is due to the wrap not the cell itself. The different weight and discharge characteristics might be an indication of either a small manufacturing change or better lot of cells that Vapecell got a hold of. Vapecell has been very honest with what cells they use. I think the minor discrepancies between this cell and the 40T are not strong indicators that the cell is not a 40T. The similarities it does have with the 40T (which are greater than the differences) and Vapecell’s reputation are evidence which tilts the scales in favor of it being a 40T.

At least that is how I see it.

Thank you very much for HKJ’s test

This is not 40t. We have gold vapcell 21700 40t, which has been tested by HKJ and mooch before

This is an upgrade of the previous vapcell 21700 40000mah 28a

Made in China

It has similar dynamic performance with 40t and p42a

But we test that 30A will not be cut off halfway

Discharge completed within 80 ℃

We will check the equipment again

Thanks

Thanks, Dennis. Glad I’ve got this cell.

Checking for info about this battery and came across this message again.

I notice the “summary table information” indicates information for “Vapcell INR21700 3750mAh (blue) 2018” instead of the Vapcell 4000mAh 21700 (gold). Are the information correct or just a typo in the heading of the table info?

BTW, this Vapcell 4000mAh 21700 (Gold) is not the same as the Vapcell G40 4000mAh 21700 (white), which doesn’t appear to be tested by HKJ yet, right?

It is a typo in the header. I copy the header from another battery and then modify it and this time I forgot the title. The rest is correct, the title will also be correct when the caching has updated.
