Super value C8+: Neal's own brand, with XHP50.2 or the Osram CSLNM1.1G THROWER LED, now available

I guess that even if it is his design, other stores are selling that model on AliExpress.

I designed a new corvette when i said hey put a supercharger on that and make it orange

Ordered the Wainlight NM1 a couple weeks ago and it says at customs, want to compare this to my FT03 sst40

Meh. I’ll give Simon my money 100x over before Neal

What is the difference between the Osram KW CSLNM1.1, Osram KW CSLPM1.TG?

Does the latter have a further throw?

Neal said the NM has more throw, while the PM has more lumens.

I hope they are comming from convoy but just rebranded. Can somebody confirm?

Neal’s C8+ hosts are sourced from Wainlight. Some other parts are sourced from his contacts in the industry.

Take a close look at the pics, from the host to the internal parts, the reflector, the tailcap/spring assembly…not you would expect from a complete small thrower Osram light at just about $20!

I got one of the white flat c8s ($15USD one) but ended up using it as a host for another white flat on copper MCPCB, and a 5A driver from Convoy, as the one that comes with it is 8*7135, so 2.8A. Thing is a monster; I’ll do throw measurements on it tonight. (Unrelated, I know, but good to see what’s possible)

Would you mind linking to the driver you’re using please

I used this four-mode one, but now there’s also the Biscotti-clone one available.

So with a 5A driver and wf1 on copper mcpcb, I got 8966 lux at 5m, which is 224150 cd, which is 946.89m of ANSI throw.

5m is too close for a thrower like this. I do 10 or 15m otherwise you can get a higher reading.

The reading also depends on how accurate your light meter is.

At 4.7A (same 5 amp driver) I got 975m. I thought that was accurate until I saw 1lumen’s review on the FT03 SST40 at 950m while I got 1040m. I think my meter is reading too high. The review was using quite an expensive meter so I reckon their’s would be more accurate than mine.

Make sure you do the test outside otherwise the light reflecting off the walls will add to the result. Inside vs outside gives 20-30m difference.

Neal’s is only driven at 2.8A so it’s certainly not the claimed 1000m or the 700 lumens. Mine at 4.7A gets 720 so 2.8A certainly isn’t 700

Yeah, will have to do a test outside; pretty rainy here tonight.

That said, I reviewed the E10 (will be up on 1lumen soon) and got similar results at 5m inside to 10m outside, with outside giving slightly more distance. Zeroair got similar results to me, so I’m inclined to believe my lux meter.

Food for thought! Will replicate outside when the weather is nicer.

The CSLPM1.1G w/copper MCPCB model I bought is using a BLF A6 driver and is reading >4A on a 30Q using a regular mulitmeter with regular thin probe wires.

Looks like Neal’s C8+ Osram is the same as the Wainlight C8+ Osram NM1 in BG.

I measure 2.8 Amps max on the Wainlight C8+ Osram NM1, so probably somewhere like 500+ real lumens? (I have a lux meter but don’t have an integrating tube for measuring…)

I tried comparing visually a Convoy C8+ SST40 (“ramp” driver, which pushes around 7 Amps tailcap current on the SST40 LED), versus the C8+ Osram NM1 (2.8 Amps tailcap current) — the C8+ Osram appears to have a more intense (brighter) hotspot than the C8+ SST40 @ 7Amps. Although I find the C8+ Osram usability to depend on the situation, since it lights up a very small spot…

The driver on both my Neal C8 and the WF one in the OP clearly have A6 drivers though, not sure how that would be limited to 2.8A since it only has 1x7135 AFAIK.

Anybody have pics of the Wainlight driver? There may be different ones used for WF 1mm vs 2mm

Hi,

I have the WF1 version, and it comes with the same diver as you can see in the review, the green one with 8x7135. One thing that I haven’t seen mentioned anywhere is that it comes with 3/5 mode firmware, the same that old convoys came with I think. I have just ordered a 5A driver, as a little more throw doesn’t hurt, and I really hate this firmware.

Oh I’m dumb, didn’t even realize it’s the XHP50.2 version in the first post that has the A6 driver. My guess is that 8x7135 (probably just spare Convoy or clone 3/5 mode ones) is being used for the WF1 versions since they’re more sensitive to current and A6 is used for the WF2 since it can handle more, and the host isn’t super low resistance anyway.

whats the kcd on the C8 Osram?
