Sofirn Warning! *Shipping Now Take Many Moons*

If you bought on www.sofirnlight.com, and hate the loooong time shipping. I hate that too. I understand how it feels like.

Today I started to use anther logistic company’s service.

I tried the service for some orders to USA before and found most arrived in 3 weeks or less, some were delivered in 10 days!

Well, the fee is a higher than the previous shipping service. That’s why “FREE shipping on orders over $59” is claimed on website.

Most buyers on sofirnlight.com are located in US, I hope this shipping service can satisfy you.

Barry, that new service sounds great.

I cant speak for everyone, but I would gladly pay extra($5-$10) for a reasonably priced shipping option to guarantee a package within a month.

There are more lights I want from Sofirn, but this experience with getting my LT1 made me hesitant to order direct anytime soon.

That’s fine for new orders but I have one order that hasn’t updated tracking since 14 May. Another placed 13 May still hasn’t shipped even after cancelling the sp32a v2 hosts that were supposedly the holdup due to being ‘out of stock’ though the site shows it in stock.

I’d gladly pay more for faster shipping. As it stands now:
Order#1: (46 days so far)
5/2/2020 - Order Place
5/5/2020 - Order Shipped

Some movement since I posted this…but FedEx tracking still not showing:

I did drop Sofrin an e-mail but haven’t heard anything back yet.

As I’ve mentioned elsewhere, I think the BLF LT1 has what it takes for mass-market appeal and the potential to sell tens of thousands of units, BUT, Sofirn has to be able to keep up.

Mine's been stuck at LAX since June 1. It probably flew nearly overhead or passed on the ground within a few miles of home on it's way from Jamaica, NY to LAX.

Jamaica, Electronic Shipping Info Received

slmjim

I’ve given up on sofirn. May 13th sofirnlight order STILL hasn’t shipped even after the supposedly out of stock sp32a were cancelled and refunded. 36 days and the order hasn’t shipped. Worse is the fact that I was not notified about any problem and their website shows 14 of the sp32a hosts available. I’ve contacted them via email requesting the remaining items (q8 host, c8f host, and q8 diffuser) be cancelled and refunded. I understand there are problems with shipping routes but in my opinion there is no excuse for failure to communicate problems and not shipping an order.

My interpretation of the Jamaica tracking record is that it’s just the receipt of electronic shipping information by USPS from Yanwen. Jamaica is very close to JFK airport and from what I can tell is home to the USPS sort facility post US customs. I’ve had two packages shipped via Yanwen that made US landfall at LAX this week, despite both noting that they’d initially received a USPS tracking number “in Jamaica” right when the package was shipped by Sofirn, well before the package left China. So take that for what you will.

5 of the Sofirn D03 Dive Flashlight kits (the battery and USB single cell charger included). Ordered 5-18-20 (3 separate orders on Aliexpress), Received all 5 today exactly 30 days. I’d expected 60 days or more. Good job Sofirn!

Wish I had read all this before ordering so much from their website. They are making fastech look fast. I think they use runners and swimmers to transport everything now. I love their lights, but wish someone would sale the lights for a small premium here in the USA. I know some have been sold on Amazon, but the ones I want are all on the slow China path. I have just about given up on some of the orders. I have patience, but they are testing that patience big time.

Finally received the q8 anduril I ordered on May 5th. 51 days from order to delivery.

Was delivered Sat., June 27.

The 2 x SD05 lights I ordered May 26, have finally made it to my mailbox June 30. 3 orders including 5 flashlights to go. An SP70, IF25A, SC31B, SP32A, and XPL S11-B. All are in 1 order except the SP70 and the XPL S11-B. The SP70 is a kit for flashaholics with the PLB batteries and charger. The PLB batteries are claimed to push it to 7000 lumens. My guess is these batteries have a PCB protection circuit that allows higher than the normal 10-12 amps that is standard…at least I hope that is how that battery accomplishes that. I do not think some of the protections can be built into the light itself with stacked batteries. If they are unprotected batteries, I will not feel good about using them stacked. You really need PCB circuitry built into the batteries themselves if stacked. That of course makes them longer. I have some fairly inexpensive lights that do not list 21700 protected batteries as an option, even though it is the best option for those lights, and since these cheap lights have no built in protection, a protected battery is needed. It has more than adequate springs to accommodate the added length. Nothing ever lists protected 21700 batteries unless it has a mini-usb port on the battery. The reason for this is very, very few chargers allow batteries over 70 mm length, but I have 1 that does. It is actually the cheapest reliable charger I have. It has no added features to test the MAH of the battery though. It is a HomeTech School, for anyone needing a charger to charge protected 21700 batteries.

I doubt the PLB batteries are protected… because Sofirn emailed me to ask if I wanted them to add “buttons” to my batteries for my “flasholic SP-70” order (I am still waiting for). I told them to send them as-is and I’d solder my own buttons.

Usually protected batteries also have buttons, but not always. The protection circuit is usually on the negative side of the battery. You can have a protection circuit and not have a button. You can also have a button without protection. It is easy to hide the wire running from the anode to the cathode with a button, so usually a button is added. Bottom line…the existence, nor lack of the existence of a button does not indicate protection, or lack of protection.

All of that considered… I’m betting Sofirn wasn’t asking me to add protected buttons. I also don’t think the light can hit 7k lumens with any protection. I guess we’ll see

Is the shipping using Sofirn Store on Aliexpres faster than using Sofirnlight.com?

6 one way 1/2 a dozen the other… I’ve had some Sofirn store stuff come in three weeks and other stuff come in two months. WHEN I was buying from the Sofirn AliExpress store, everything took 5-7 weeks and today… other ALiExpress sellers are also taking about that same time using China post (usually).

If I wanted it fast lately, I asked for an Amazon code from Barry/Lan Lee at the Sofirn.com store and pricing was pretty close using the codes. But lately, Amazon isn’t stocking some of Sofirn’s items like they were last month? Like the LT1: I had a code for it I was going to use, but waited too long and it’s stocked out today with “no known stock on the way.”

One thing I will say though is ALL orders have eventually come in (about 6 total this year) and one came yesterday that I ordered on Match 17th. But the seller (I bought from before) kept in touch and worked with me until it got here.

My strategy is… I just plan for what I need 4 months out. And I have one more (out of four) LT1s on the way here in a few weeks (maybe?) for my September fishing trip that starts my 6 months of hunting/fishing. I AM looking forward to not pumping up my Coleman lanterns for the first time since I bought them back in the 80s. :stuck_out_tongue:
