What is the Hold Up?!

OK, explain this. A shipment of flashlights from Sofrin was ordered by me around May 25. It was showing as picked up by shipping partner in New York June 03, and I live in South Carolina, maybe 1000-1500 miles from N.Y. and I am then thinking…cool, I will get it soon. Today, it finally showed updated shipping, and arrived in California…over 3000 miles away. Why are they sending it to California over 3000 miles from the delivery address, and who is Pitney Bowes who delivered the package in California? I learned in Elementary School that the shortest distance between 2 points is a straight line. California is about as far away as they could send it while remaining in the USA. Can anyone reading this educate me on the reasoning here? Can anyone tell me the transportation method employed that takes Pitney Bowes 21 days to travel the 3000 or so miles between N.Y. and California? Is Pitney walking that package the 3000 miles in the wrong direction? Am I missing something, besides my lights, that might explain the logic employed here?

This is assuming it checks in before I check out. I am a disabled 62 year old with spinal cord damage. The days are becoming more pressing all the time.

it went by ship. shortest route china to california. usps responsible after that.

Sure it’s a legit tracking number? Sometimes if they’re “reused”, they start off in your direction, but then go elsewhere.

Eg, one order (forgot what or from whom) arrived at the New York ISP, and even got “local” from there. Kewl, coupla more days, and it’d be in my grubby little hands.

And then nothing. Days went by, almost a week, then the next notification I get, it’s in Ocala, Florida! And then the local PO, out for delivery, then delivered! Wtf?!?

I contacted the seller, forgot if I got the “real” tracking number or not, but eventually I got my package perfectly fine, but with a different tracking number (ie, the real one). And popping in that number after-the-fact showed its whole journey from the start.

Damnedest thing…

No, I am sure of little. The USPS informed delivery and the Sofrin website both show that tracking number. It is the USPS tracking that showed it picked up in New York on June 3, and then delivered in California on June 25. The same informed delivery shows another item arriving at my Counties post office on June 25…to be delivered June 29…really? They are saying it will take 4 more days to travel that 5 miles? I should not be surprised though. Here in South Carolina I received the tithe of someone who mailed it to a Pennsylvania Church. I got their name from a google search and called them to let them know. They too found it hilarious. I have no idea how the post office even missed the State. They surely should have seen my modest home was no church.

My point is, are you sure the tracking number you were given is in fact for your package?

A label can be created, ostensible shipping address already locked’n’loaded, and then that number (and label) get instead “reused” for someone else’s package.

That’s what I’m convinced happened in my case. The number was first assigned to my package, and was sent as if it were in fact being sent to me (ie, to land in NYC, and not Oakland or Chicago or…). Then, being that the number was reassigned to someone else’s package, after it got to NY (as if intended for me), it then wended its way down south to Florida, to the new recipient’s location.

And my package was given a different tracking number after-the-fact, which I was able to track after I received the package and thus saw the new tracking number. The package with the old/original one was still delivered in Ocala.

As much as it sucks, hank’s lights are so worth it to me it’s like the release you get when you finally get to open the Christmas present you wanted but you were unsure you would get. It’s almost like an enjoyable nostalgia that you never got to experience but never appreciated. And now you’re an adult and you need to realize this is really one of those Beautiful Moments where patience is the essence. Enjoy waiting for the reward makes that all that much more rewarding.

Sure…… I don’t feel the same way. But if you tell me my patience is not appreciated and I should enjoy waiting longer…. I believe I’ve waited long enough my KR4 still hasn’t arrived and its been almost 90 days since shipping I think I’ve waited LONG enough….

But somehow I have my KR1 arriving Monday as Canada post generally doesn’t deliver on weekends…

Im a little late to some of these posts, but have a question for help- (Neals Gadgets orders)

I ordered the FW3C copper on May 9th, it arrived in Los Angeles Calif. on May 17th, and then Commerce California on JUNE 17th (a month later)… it still has not been accepted by USPS, although their site says they are “awaiting the item”. It is still in Commerce California… How can it take 4 weeks to move from LA to Commerce, CA (looks like google says they’re 8 miles apart) and still be stuck in Commerce for 9 days?

I am used to long ship times but what can I do if it is lost?

Reason the above scenario concerns me is this:

I ordered the FW21 Pro and yootoo amutorch sd3 on JUNE 14TH, and it is due to arrive at my house TOMORROW! this is awesome, and exceptionally fast as I am in CT, USA. I just am worried about my first copper torch ever, the FW3c, being lost in California somewhere.

Any suggestions anyone has for this scenario? Has anyone had an experience like this before?

Both of these orders were from Neal and I’ve never had an issue, lost package, or anything take longer then 5-6 weeks before.

Thanks

Art

Yea, 90 days… I would be pretty outraged. I am of the mindset of I am Mostly OK waiting 4-6 weeks KNOWING my light is coming under “normal” shipping conditions (China to US shipping at least). waiting weeks more than a month and a half is kind’ve outrageous, and id be hard pressed to consider it an enjoyable part of the flashlight buying experience…

sarge12 , you are just experiencing the mysterious workings of the USPS. I got a light today that traveled about half way across the country in a day and a half and then spent 5 days in the bowels of the USPS in the same city that I live in before they managed to make it the last 15 miles to my house. This is not even the first time this has happened. :rage:

And I once had nigh miraculous delivery. Last I’d looked, it just arrived at ISP New York one afternoon. Figured 2-3 days to get it, eh? Nope! Everything must’ve just “hit”.

In’n’out from ISP New York, same to Brooklyn Dist Ctr, Queens Dist Ctr, all that evening. Arrived at the local PO by early morning, out for delivery by 9, received at 11. I almost fell over when it showed, and again seeing the tracking history afterwards.

Google international service centers for USPS. Something is really broken. My Zebralight has been in Chicago since the 8th after processing through. Hasn’t moved since.

My Lii-500 and a heater cartridge just showed up from back in February. I think they are nearing the literal bottom of the pile of backlog.

Waiting is one thing; packages shown as delivered when they weren’t is even more irritating. Last week USPS tracking showed two packages as delivered. They weren’t left in my mailbox or close to the house; just not here. I notified the post office and hope they will show up eventually. The sellers aren’t responsible because USPS tracking shows they were delivered. Same happened with a package last year and it did eventually show up - about 3 weeks later.

I have an outstanding order from Kaidomain that has been 96 days since ordering. Tracking has not up-dated in the last 61 days. Yet I have another order placed 17 days later that did arrive. It took 45 days. I’m convinced the first order is now lost.

Kaidomain just keeps saying wait. That’s not helpful. If I’m the only person complaining about a slow parcel, then they should assume its lost and refund. If many customers are complaining, they need to get onto the shipping company and find out what’s going on.

Wow 96 days is way too long. They should consider it lost and just refund you,

Anyone knows what are tthe shipping times right now for Convoy store?

I’m still waiting on my Convoy order that was ordered June 4th. Shipped out fast, but still shows in China as of today. I have no idea if it left China yet! My last Convoy orders took over 40 days to get here (ordered in March and April). Iguess starting last week Simon has a new shipping option that’s “free” but lots faster than epacket.

Thanks for letting me know. Simon is the best. That bad to hear your light is sitting in limbo.

Simon is the best. He even said epacket has had issues. I never had trouble with it until all the Coronavirus stuff went down. I would reliably get Convoy orders in 14 days.
