Nice it has a true Constant Current FET driver, but a shame a 10% mode was sacrificed for a moon mode.
In fact, it seems all Convoy drivers have sacrificed a necessary mode for a moon mode, ruining the mode spacing.
Finally got my first S21 from banggood this week. I don’t hate the 6500K as much as I thought I would, and I love this light. I EDC a Jaxman E2L, S2+, or BLF A6 in cargo pockets, and after a few days with the S21, it really doesn’t seem bigger for my carry purposes.
And the idea of a 5000mah 21700 with a full day of runtime makes me giggle as much as the throw of SBT90 in my new FT03S.
When there’s a version with a warmer tint and biscotti, I’m definitely getting another one of these. Ah, who am I kidding, I’ll probably buy more just like this when they go on sale again. Just an amazing deal for $17.
You could probably also ask Simon to install and XP-L HI of your choice into the light as well. They match well with the driver, I swapped one into my S2+ with 5A/12 group driver and am enjoying it for a cheap beater light.
Hello guys, I have a question about Convoy’s 4-modes driver.
S11 with 4-modes driver, no strobe mode listed in the specification/description at AliExpress Convoy store, but some reviews on BLF mentioned it actually has strobe mode.
What about S21A ? Is it also 4-modes plus hidden strobe?
The S11 XHP50.2 driver manufacturer mistakenly added the double-click strobe function when producing a batch of drivers.
As a tool for daily use, I personally don’t like to add strobe to modes
Hello Simon, thanks for your reply.
I actually like strobe mode as a hidden mode, not in the main loop, not something like “low-med-high-strobe… ”.
I prefer “hidden strobe”. But I think double-click is too short, has the potential of accidental activation.
Your new UI of M21C-U has three-clicks for strobe, I think that’s good. Is it possible to add this feature to other driver, especially your 12-groups driver? Additional mode, strobe, hidden, three-clicks. Accessible from any mode group.
I understand that 12-group driver has strobe mode in group 1, 4, 7 and 11, but that’s in the main loop, not hidden. Not ideal for EDC/daily use.
I think hidden strobe is an ideal solution for user who doesn’t like/need strobe as well as for user who likes/needs strobe. It’s hidden, not prone to accidental activation, but still relatively easy to access when needed.
I have always wanted my driver manufacturer to write programs similar to crescendo, but I have been too busy recently. I think I will be free in a few days.
I don’t have experience with Crescendo but I read on BLF :
Crescendo has hidden strobe , and ramping, for flashlight with regular switch (not e-switch).
Light painting photographers like strobes (single frequency strobes). They can be hidden as long as once selected they can be memorised! It is quite a big market, one light painter has over 300k followers on insta.
seems like spring bypass is not very high quality, after short time it just ripped off on all 3 s21a which I had
I guess its because of low quaility insulation on that cable used for bypass, which will become just too stiff(plastic like, instead of rubber…) due to heat damage
