*BLF LT1 Lantern Project) (updated Nov,17,2020)

Just got one of the JBL speaker cases from Amazon to pack my LT1 in. $10.

Fits along with the cable and a USB power adapter. It’s a little loose at the bottom of the lantern end. I might add a piece of foam eventually.

Now I wait for a RED one.

All the Best,
Jeff

Oh, I like that. Mine’s been riding around in my backpack unprotected, and I don’t really like it. That speaker case looks absolutely perfect.

The case I got from Sofirn in the kit is also made for the JBL speaker, but interior isn’t as nice with the bubbled padding. Cables and extra washers fit with the same dividers. Added some extra foam over the cloth lining.$5.00 if bought with the kit.

Does anyone know if the Amazon Canada LT1 is the latest 5.0 Version?

If this happens, can it please use “photo red” (670nm) or even “cherry red” (700nm) deep red LED wavelengths?

Just got my Zebralight H502pr the other day and the 670nm makes such a difference over the usual orangey hue (630nm) of most ‘red’ LEDs.

I mean, it’s ideal for avoiding insects while out camping, but it’s also beautiful!

Mine, 5 weeks old, is 5.0 .

I ordered one on June 20 and it was the 5.0 version.

Just bought a red one from Amazon UK. Available in black and blue as well for £7.99.
What a great find, perfect fit, could have been made for the lantern and has room for cable storage at the end.

Is there any ETA for a shade for this light?

Here are some shades I made from ‘collapsible, silicone dog bowls’ for my LT1 and Zanflare T1 lanterns. The bowls were originally only $2/ea on eBay last year but I think they might be a little more now. They work great and I cant imagine my lanterns without them.

Great idea! I got a red/yellow/white/black set for $10

Yeah, I was not confident, I’d like a tan or orange version. I waited to buy both for the chance at colors and to give others the ability to get theirs.

The response I got was (paraphrased): “We are selling them direct from our website, we have new old stock with the USB-C known issue that you can buy for $48, or with batteries for $57.”

I went ahead and ordered a couple. One is already spoken for by a neighbor who wanted hurricane prep lights and came to me for advice. Deity knows when they will come in.

What is the usb-c issue?

The original version can only charge via a USB-A to USB-C cord.

A USB-C to USB-C will not charge on the original version as the required resistors were not included.

Not a deal breaker IMO.

Good to know. I have the original version, usb a to usb c suits me just fine.

There are already 5 versions of the LT1?

No, just 2. The driver circuit went through a few revisions before release, and then had one update after release.

Along these lines anyone found a good base for these yet? The base doesn’t have rubber and can easily get scratched when camping. Wonder if there is a foldable base like this collapsible shade. Looks great BTW.

Another hack here is the orange rubber ring for protection? The groove on the head of the lantern light is way too shallow and the rubber ring slides off at the touch. If it was meant to protect the lantern it’s not doing a great job. I just found an unused silicon wrist band and wrapped it around the top. Maybe one for the base will help too? It holds in place way better than the orange one which pops off in the case everytime I pull it out to play with.

May need to find one for kids on the base.

Hope they change the design for V2 of the lantern.

A good base will make it more stable too.
A ranger station had those silicone wrist bands for kids and told me to take one, so I got a glow in the dark version. Works great and makes less noise if you knock it over.
