Ok, I received the E3S today. Even though I thought it was a dumb move because of the E3 button issues, I think the E3S's button is improved. I dunno for sure, but I think it feels better, not as much slop. Right now, my E3 is apart so can't compare side by side though. Could be it feels way better than the Amutorch TC500 because I received them together, and wow, the TC500 has really stiff buttons, tail and e-switch.

Haha… well, that didn’t take long. I got an Amutorch E3 in the mail yesterday. I did a runtime test today and after 25 minutes it got hot enough to desolder the ground wire on the MCPCB. The body had hit 75°C. I immediately aborted the test, but the “damage” was done.
On the plus side, I registered 3300 lumens at turn-on with a Molicel P42A and SST20 4000K’s. Much brighter than I expected. But then again, the light paid the price for it. 
Looks like a custom Anduril2 driver is in order along with some RGB aux (twas my plan all along anyway).
I know it comes with a boatload of heat, but seeing 3000+lm capability and Ra95+ and R9-90ish reaffirms my affinity for this emitter. More meaningful IMO is the relative CD/LM you get from them. I’m looking forward to whatever you cook up! This light is dangling on the edge of my wishlist - along with a few amutorches btw- just needing an efficient driver to pull it up. Series config mcpcb and boost driver is my hope
Well, on the plus side… the driver appears to be a Buck + FET so it could be pretty efficient if you’re not using Turbo (much). I was planning on measuring non-Turbo output but it got desoldered first. And while I had the iron out, I just went ahead and took the driver out so I could measure it. Once I get the new driver designed and am waiting on PCBs, I may throw the original back in temporarily to play with. I do know that when it dropped out of turbo, it went down to ~850 lumens. I’m not sure if that was the top of regulation or not.

Ehh, I’m a bone head. Please disregard that. It is indeed a linear circuit - there’s no inductor. The linear circuitry appears to use an extrenal op-amp, separate FET, and a large R050 current sense resistor. I really shouldn’t try to work and analyze drivers at the same time. 
No worries… it’s not going to cause me any trouble. This light is a nice, very small hot rod. I would still recommend it, but with the disclaimer that when it starts getting hot, make sure to decrease output! Temperature regulation appears to only affect Turbo mode, not all modes.
I’m not sure for the E3, but for the E3S the KR4/KR1 deep-carry clip is an option. The tip protrudes about 1mm past the bezel on the E3S. And the rear extends a bit past the end of the tailcap. But it fits on there!
Dammit Scallywag. No clip kept this off my list. I love the kr4 clip, now I think I have to buy one. Fin, any deals available for the E3 these days?
Get someone to measure the E3 just in case. Also it will spin some since the keyring-thingy it came with lacked the o-ring that Hank uses to keep his clips from moving. Although you can probably just add one, I guess it will show more on the E3(S) since the tailcap doesn’t accommodate it like on the KR4

My E3S came with non-carclo optics but they’re fine. I got 6500K SST20 since it was the last purple in stock. They’re greenish a tad on low modes but quite good at higher currents. I’m not sure I’d buy the E3 myself, even in purple, since I need a new UI and I don’t envy dropping stuff down the 700 tube like gchart did. It will be tough enough with the 350 tube hahaha.
For now I’m trying my new suspension clip with it still, which is fun since I’ve never carried anything with a suspension clip before. Although presently it’s crippled by the UI it’s a nice photon nugget on turbo.
