Low-cost copper pills, spacers, optics, drop-ins (Updated 23/10/2022))

How about a 2x18650 extension tube for the Convoy S2+?

You can ask Simon, he should not refuse.

Doubt. He will probably say that it is not profitable, because there will be no demand. Even for the extension tube.

He makes C8 extention tubes - mostly for the UV version. S2+ is more popular host.

I asked Simon and he has no plan for an extension tube, not surprising as I can’t imagine too many other people would be interested in such a thing.

There can be many people interested - but you need to explain why this config is so good.

I can just imagine all the happy people buying the extension for their S2+es, loading ’em up with a 2S arrangement… and instantly frying the come-with driver.

Yes exactly! I was thinking of doing something foolish with my all-copper S2, a FET driver and a XHP70.2. If I were Simon I wouldn’t want to deal with the headache of customers not understanding that you can’t just slap 2S cells into your regular S2 without releasing the magic smoke.

Solder blob 1x18350 and one flat top, use in series and see how fast your xhp70 becomes really exciting for the day you mod it until you realize FET driving an xhp70 at low modes is inefficient and ugly. Just slice and dice a 3v xhp50.2 and you will have dozens of driver choices

Just received my Copper Spacers for the S21A today!
They look great BTW and I cannot wait to see what a triple SST20 will do in these

4x S11 quad Alu
4x S11 quad Cu
30х S21a triple Cu
are available for sale.

Just a quickie question:
Do you have plans on Triple LED full S21A pills?

No.
I was thinking about such batch a year ago and decided that making simple spacers batch is better for everyone.
It took a few years to sell the last 50pcs batch of S2+ triple pills. S21a pill would be much more expensive, at the same time it is still not close to being as popular as S2+.

Would it be possible to get a set of thru-holes drilled in the S21A Triple Aluminum spacer to match up with the tapped screw holes in the pill? I’d like to be able to use a long set of screws to clamp everything in place…

I need to think if it is possible or not. But only Cu S21 spacers are available atm.

And zhey are great! I wish i purchased more pills :(

No, this is not possible. There is no place for screw heads.
I had to delay S21a spacers for several month because I had no solution how to center spacer on flat pill. One of interim versions had holes in the spacer, with M1.6 threads. With din912 socket head screws installed from the bottom, they match wire holes in the pill. Once I tried it, I have realized that such option is too complicated, also not each stock pill have holes in exact same place.
Since you need a central hole in the pill, (and pills are made from copper) you have another option. First of all, you can drill central hole in the pill when both pill and the spacer are installed in the host. After hole is ready, you can remove parts, add a little chamfer, clean them and put together with some solder paste between the pill and the spacer. Then you can put a drill shank in the center hole and use torch or hotplate to solder parts together. This method is not super precise, but in most cases the pill and the spacer can be aligned well enough.
For super fine centering 20mm triple optics in S21A host, another part that centers optics itself is needed. I don’t think machining this part (lets call it liner) is worth it, it should be probably made by 3d printer.

D’oh! :person_facepalming:

Forgot that the Triple MCPCBs don’t have screw holes. Was interested in aluminum to keep the weight down, but looks like that won’t work here. Copper spacer and solder is definitely the simplest solution…

BTW, the new style triple optics in the FW lights are a perfect fit for the S21A. No additional centering pieces/sleeves needed. Of course these don’t suit everyone’s taste, but should be noted

Just received my C8TT head and copper S2+ triple spacer. They look perfect, good threads, everything is smoothly finished, clean, the machining is high quality, copper is shiny, no burs or dirty looking work at all. They arrived well-packaged and wrapped individually in bags in side of bubble-wrap, and exceeded my expectations.
Included o-rings, lens, lubed threads, everything as described or better. Kiriba-ru was nice enough to do some additional machining work to my C8TT head for a custom idea for a small fee, and it turned out great. Excellent service, product, communication from seller. Shipping was faster than I expected. Just about as fast as any Sofirn store or Aliexpress wait-time to the CONUS right now given the conditions. Ordered/shipped July 21st and received yesterday from Russia to Louisiana, US. Thanks! will be ordering again. Pics to come once I get time to build them.

Hoping to make a triple S2+ with sst-20-dr red, and maybe a red triple C8TT if I can make the C8F reflector work with the screw that protrudes from the bottom of it, or a single-led C8TT, depending on finding the right reflector/parts that match the additional machining work. We’ll see. Either way, I’d order both of these again.

Crazy idea bump:

Make this and SKV and I will buy it. I mean I didnt ask him but he’s a sucker for this stuff

Same style as S11 quad but have it replace Ledil ANGIE optic with 12x XP mule MCPCB.

33mm on the bottom to match Noctigon 4XP 33mm, whatever size at top you wish that will fit above mule board height would be ~10mm and make o-ring groove like above. You could even countersink small hole in bottom to align with one of screw holes on Noctigon 4XP 33mm to prevent rotation (optional I guess). Suggest making it in copper so board can be soldered to spacer.

You would not want the wall of spacer to be against pcb so we dont block as much light from mule
