People that you personally know that have COVID-19

So far, for me, it's just one person.

I'm not that social in real life, and I hope the number of people doesn't increase, but who knows?

He's a friend of the family, and he's a really nice guy.

My sister calls him "her brother" even though they are not related.

He's about 6' 4" and I say he would make a great Jason Voorhees because he's such a big guy.

I hope that everyone that becomes sick has a speedy and full recovery, and that of course includes our friend of the family.

If you personally know someone with COVID-19, feel free to post in this thread.

I will update our family friend's status in this thread as it changes.

(Right now we're not sure how he is doing.)

uncle’s wife: 52yo, contracted in London, 2 weeks ICU, 1 week ecmo.
deceased

friend from the gym: 43yo male, got infected at work, collapsed while driving
deceased

2nd degree cousin, 39yo male, got the virus through friends in Detroit, 1 month in hospital
deceased

afaik they all had pre-existing medical conditions

Other people I know who got infected all survived, about 100 in total. about 30% of our offices are/were tested positive and are in London, NYC or other comparable cities.

I will call my family friend "Jason" even though that's not his name.

Jason is in his early 40s, and I believe he is very healthy other than the COVID-19.

He was diagnosed pretty recently.

Soon, but not yet. I operate a community meeting hall, so I have lots of social interaction daily. It is only a matter of sooner, not later, that I will hear that someone that I know has the bug.

Three of my relatives fell ill with COVID-19 and recovered, all of them are doctors.

My brother. 39yo, fairly fit but has liver issues. Most likely got it from his nurse wife. Lost his senses of smell and taste for a bit, but they came back a few days later with medical treatment, vitamins and a kind of propolis potion that our mother makes. Full recovery.

My mother in law’s sister. She is elderly and in a Florida nursing home. Not sure of her condition yet. Also my sister’s grandchild. She is in her late teens and last I heard she is doing well.

Daughter of a friend. 30-something. Has been in recovery mode for about 6 weeks after 2 weeks on ventilator. Very slow process, very fatigued.

A longterm friend who lives around the corner. He is a longterm heavy smoker so likely his lungs were not in pristine condition. He went really really ill with breathing difficulties but eventually got better without needing hospitalisation. He is back on his feet working again and walking the dog, but still not in great condition many weeks after.

A friends wife has it. She’s really sick.
Another friends 3 year old got it. They Don’t know how, but she had been visiting grandparents.
She had 104 fever for just a few hours. Now feeling OK, but has way less energy, goes to bed earlier and sleeps later. Takes longer naps. Watching her closely.
Huge jump in local cases in the last 5 weeks.
All the Best,
Jeff

A friend and his wife got it on March, my friend works for AA so they were one of the first ones exposed. They got over it after 15 days. The both “recovered” they are still fatigued (5 months after) and my friend developed hyper and hypo tension problems, they said it could be related to covid, since he never had that before. They say their health changed after covid and they have not been back to normal.

Another friend tested positive a couple of days ago.

I also know at least 4 parents of friends who died because of COVID. They were old, but still all of them dyeing within days of each other and with no one by their side is terrible.

A family friend in South Carolina, 50 years old male in good shape. Recovering at home.
His wife is a nurse, wondering how he got it and she didn’t.
He said “It’s no joke! This stuff is very bad”

Update:

My family friend "Jason" says is feeling fine.

He did not feel so great about a week ago.

He will be retested for COVID-19 on Thursday.

So apparently he may not even have COVID-19, even though he had a positive test about a week ago.

He has to have a negative result to go back to work.

That's the latest.

I had it.

Fever off and on for 3 days. Horrible night sweats. I had to put towels down on the bed, then get up twice a night to change out the towels. They were soaking wet. That went on for 3 nights. No energy, joint pain, hurt all over, wheezing and shortness of breath, no appetite, lost 12 pounds in a week. And a polka dot rash with large red welts all over the body.

1 week of feeling miserable and flu like, then all is well.

I’ve avoided it so far but had pneumonia in the past along with a very serious flu which smashed me and I almost felt in the rare occasions I could sleep I would not awake.

I personally dont know of anyone who has had it but I really hope we all stay well and we are past the worst of it. Being over 50, it’s the first time in my life that I’ve been faced with this challenge. We are asked to remain home unless we have a genuine need to be out. On the occasions when walking to see everyone with masks is weird but it’s good to see people taking it seriously.
Best wishes everyone.

I personally know a few people who have covid, but I don't know who they are, and neither do they, because they are asymptomatic or think they have pollen allergy.

My Dad is re-married. My step-sister and her husband stayed with them for a couple of nights about a week and a half ago. I happened to drop by while they were there. So we all chatted for a bit, indoors, no masks, no 6 spacing.

So that was on a Sat, apparently on Tues my step brother-in-law started feeling sick. Got test results back a couple days later and was positive. Seems to be doing fine, mild case. My family and I got tested Friday, still waiting for results. My Dad, stepmom, and stepsis all tested negative and none of us have any symptoms so far. knock on wood

Have wondered if maybe it was a false positive and he just got a cold, but who knows…

A family we are friends with. The oldest son was in the hospital, unrelated, and seems like he picked it up there. Funny because he had negative tests at intake and before surgery. Given the recent negatives, his parents and sister visited him and his fiance when he got home from the hospital… and then every single one of them became sick.

The parents and sister were isolating, and only had contact with him and his fiance. The fiance is an essential worker, but nobody else at her place of work got sick.

Only the father needed hospitalization. They’ve all recovered, with no lasting symptoms other than possible lingering fatigue.

wish everyone’s good, and it will end very soon…

A friend of mine wasn’t feeling so good and went to do the testing. What he describes is lack of breath by doing any sort of physical effort or exercise. Within 2 weeks he was fine but believes some of the symptoms have remained but not as bad as when he was sick. Weird thing is none of his 6 family members that live with him got any of the symptoms despite not taking extreme precautions during that time.
