I already own a Zebralight SC700D...

Is there any reason to pick up a Lumintop FW21 Pro? I’m trying to find justification in getting one. The 10K lumens part is cool but realistically I find that part useless due to the really short step down. I’m kinda turned off that the FW21 Pro requires a lower capacity 21700 Samsung 30T for the higher current draw requirements. I’d rather use a Samsung 40T for the added capacity.

The Zebralight SC700D is hard to beat.

No there is absolutely no logic in getting FW21.
SC700D is just too good. Have you consider Noctigon K1, ASTROLUX FT03 (or Mini) or EMISAR D1S ? :sunglasses:

To be honest, I haven’t looked at any other variants. I just found the look of the FW21 Pro appealing. I mean the lightning function is kinda neat. Every time I think about checking one out I’m reminded that the 10K thing is blah. I wonder what the “real” sustainable practical max mode lumens is on it?

I'm going to get a FW21 Pro if it ever comes out in warm white.

I will use these batteries:

MOLICEL INR-21700-P42A.

I like compact flashlights with a tail switch and good UI.

No matter what it outputs on high, I'm sure that it'll be good enough for me.

Wow! That battery is AMAZING! I wonder if Mooch has ever tested it to see if it lives up to it’s specs??

I believe the cell is legit.

It's also available here with lower shipping fees:

Cool! Thanks for posting this! WOuld you happen to know if this cell has the same issue as the Samsung 50E where the positive terminal is sunk in? I’d like to know if this will work with the SC700D. This could be my new go to 21700!

Omg that’s is an absolute amazing cell if it live up to the specs. And great price tooo.

I just got the Thrunite T2, it seems using a customized high drain cell too but no way near 45v.

According to this, Mooch has already checked that cell out and he approves. He says its better than the Samsung 40T! I think ill go grab some! Thanks Raccoon for the heads up!!!

Oh Snap… they may not fit a Zebralight SC700D because they are a tad longer. Them Pogo pins don’t have much room. This is where that Lumintop FW21 Pro would work for them. I wonder if anyone has ever tried these new batteries in the SC700D to see?

I don’t own an SC700d, but I do own an FW21 Pro, plus many Zebras (including an SC600 IV Plus).

From what I’ve read, the SC700d is superior to the FW21 Pro for actual use.

  • The SC700d’s temperature regulation lets it sustain approximately 2000 lumens for the life of the battery without overheating. This is more than almost every other similar size light on the market and over twice what an FW21 Pro stabilizes at after temperature rampdown.
  • The SC700d also has an excellent buck-boost driver which can sustain 1000 lumens for 3 hours. Something very few other single-cell lights can do.

The FW21 Pro can output 10,000 lumens… but only on a freshly charged high-drain cell and only for a few seconds. Output drops very rapidly. I wouldn’t be surprised that if you turned on both an SC700d and an FW21 Pro on turbo and then watched them ramp down, the FW21 Pro’s output would fall below the SC700d’s in less than a minute.

Another thing: My recollection is the SC700d has a nice neutral tint and being a reflector light a decently throwy beam. In contrast, the output from an FW21 Pro is cool white and the beam is pure flood.

If you’re looking for a light to wow your friends, the FW21 Pro is just the ticket. 10,000 lumens in such a small package is amazing. But if you want a light that’s actually practical the SC700d is enormously better.

Cool. I think I’ll stick to the 700D. I just wonder If I can get away with that new battery Raccoon linked. I mean the 40T is 70.1mm and that MOLICEL cell says its 21.2 ~21.4mm.

Zebralight have hi-end electronics, host, LED and firmware. It is a mother of all modern flashlights

Just ordered a couple of those MOLICEL INR-21700-P42A batteries. Will see how it works out in the 700D.

The Molicel P42A will work just fine… perfect (at least in mine) on length, you can shake the light with out breaking contact when the light is on, but they rattle, so get yourself some 21700 wraps and shrink wrap a couple on your cells for a custom fit, rattle free experience… :stuck_out_tongue:
