I know the bundle comes with Sony vtc6 but I don’t know if those are they best or just what were easily obtainable.
I would say the VTC6 are the best overall cells for it unless there are some new cells I am not aware of.

What would be the best USA source to buy the batteries? I didn’t buy the bundle kit because I don’t need the charger and everytime I buy a light with batteries in it, it seems to have difficulties getting here.

Just got my tracking number.
Just received my BLF GT4. 
Measured at 9.5 meters. 4730 lux which gives 1306 meters of throw with only 4 batteries that draw power.
Not bad, what cells are you using? Are they freshly charged?
Fully charged. Tested around 30 seconds. Sony VTC6.
Ah, the 30 seconds would explain it, I generally test at 5-10 seconds. These style lights generally drop off for the first 30-60 seconds as things heat up and then stabilize the drop off. I am just too lazy to time the tests between all my lights to keep them consistent lol.
