Thrunite TT10 Works but button blinks and drains battery...

Anyone have an idea of why my new Thrunite TT10 indicator button light keeps blinking and drains the battery when turned off? The light works fine, but when turned off the tiny blue indicator light keeps flashing every couple seconds. So with any long period on the shelf, this drains the battery. Unlike many other Li-Ion battery lights which can sit for 6 months with no problem. Lights which have indicator lights that stay on, I usually just twist the cap counterclockwise a bit to disconnect, but with the TT10, I have to remove the battery or it drains dead in a week or two. Any advice would be appreciated.

I know that light has a blue light that blinks every so often as a indicator. I don’t know if it can be shut off but, it surely shouldn’t cause the battery to drain in a few weeks. Something somewhere is causing to much parasitic drain. Sounds like a warranty issue. I would contact Thrunite directly, they may send you a new light or a at a minimum a new head for it. I know they have a US warehouse but not sure about stateside warranty repair. I assume you tested the cell to make sure it is up to specs and is getting fully charged? If not maybe throw another cell or even a 18650 in and let it run for a few weeks.

Thanks for the reply. Checked several good cells. Light blinks every ~2 seconds, normal unless I lock the light. When I tighten the tail cap it won’t run, but I can loosen it 1/8th turn and it works fine. I’m testing it locked out with a new 21700 battery and have a digital reminder set for 1 week. Thrunite sent a second TT10 to me back then which was also bad, then sent another TC20 (I have two others and love that light) as recompense so I’m square with them. But I’m stubbornly trying to make the dead TT10 work anyway. Thanks again.

Side-clicky, so howbow unscrewing the tailcap and measuring the parasitic current?

Was also gonna suggest a different cell, but you’re already doing that.

It’s either the light or the cell. Need first to know which is the “bad” one…

I’ve narrowed it to the light. Is it possible that the tailcap switch is shorting out when tight, but allowing continuity when loosened? That’s what seems to be happening. This light has the tactical instant turbo and strobe buttons on the tailcap. Maybe the switch is lose inside. I’ll check this to see if it can be tightened like other tail switch lights. Seems like I went through this with Thrunite a year ago when all this went down. I just decided to scratch open the scab again today. Thanks for the input. I’m off to the Olight site.

I’ve had 1-2 lights go mental when torqued down but work okay when slightly loosened, but fiicr what was the reason why. Was æons ago.

If a protected cell, squishing down hard om the protection board might short one thing to another (eg, through a resistor) that doesn’t instantly fry it but just drains the cell.

I know this is an old thread, but was having same exact issue with my TT10. After disassembly, I felt some in and out play in the spring and board inside tail cap. It has tiny notches on the outer most ring inside cap. If you get a very small flathead screwdriver or a pick you can spin that ring clockwise and it will tighten the whole assembly down until it has no play. This solved my battery draining problem and issue with no power when tail cap too tight. Hope this can help someone.
