I finally got my Manker E02 II and to my surprise the tint on the SST20 is… rosy. I’m not sure if it’s just luck or what bin they managed to get from these but when I turn on the light, even on the moonlight modes (low enough to look directly at the led) the center and edges of the TIR are visibly rosy. The “corona” portion is yellowish, so it averages out to about a neutral beam tint. I compared it to my 4500k E21a D4v2 and I would say it’s about the same tint, just warmer of course at 4000k.
I am pleasantly surprised, as my other SST20 4000k lights are basically all yellow, even up to about 600 lumens.
High Five Manker!
I very much love this little light, even more than I thought with this great tint. I was planning to try to reflow a LH351 onto it and add a minus-green filter, but I’m definitely keeping it as is now.
Also, this thing has a SUPER low moonlight. Noticibly lower than the .04 lumen mode on my SC700d, I would estimate about .01 lumen or even lower. The next step up from there is probably close to .04, then another good step from there to maybe .2, with a few more steps after, going up to what I would call a “low” mode at the highest.
I will update this with more impressions when I have later.
Update: AAA “turbo” runtime test:
I put a fully charged Ikea LADDA 900, hit turbo, and ran a timer. At about the 2.5 min mark, it slowly dimmed down over 30 seconds to the “high” mode right at 3 minutes. So that’s about as claimed as far as step-down goes. I repeated this by resetting turbo immediately at the 3 minute mark (plus or minus a few seconds) repeatedly until the light dropped to moonlight mode. It did this at about 30 seconds on the 8th run. So total runtime at max lumens works out to about 18 minutes. If you add in the stepdown fade (so the full 3 minutes) we will call it 21.5 minutes. I prefer to call it 18 minutes.
I adjusted the moonlight mode to the highest (~10 lumens?) setting and am going to see how long it runs until it shuts off.
Update: It went about ~30 minutes after stepdown from high, on the ~10 lumen level, before shutting off.
Also, I received my second E02 II from Amazon today, and it has just as good of a tint! Unless I am just getting lucky twice (and the others here also got lucky) it’s looking like these lights just might have good tint across the board.
Updated Thread title to be more accurate, now that more info/measurements are available. I don’t want to mislead anyone.
