What blade did you EDC today?

Smart move. It’s slender enough to work well in a sheath.

Been carrying a Boker multi-tool I got from County Comm. It has the taupe colored scales. Nice deep carry. Gorgeous hollow grind polished blade.

Nice Boker multi-tool! I like hallow grinds, and Boker did an amazing job on that one. Beautiful.

Actually Sanrenmu did that great job, like on their self-branded SRM WA721-A1
Too bad they only give the tip-up carry option on the Boker version.

I carry a Victorinox Huntsman on a daily basis. It’s awesome.

The replacement for my Ganzo automatic that was lost, and found again last night.
Anyways a man cant have too many knives, right :sunglasses:

Item in question Boker Plus lateralus Steel.

It feel quite nice, and the edge on it from the factory are not bad, but i personally prefer a bit more shine ( polished ) edge.
So this new “toy” will get a spin in my pocket in the weeks to come, and the Ganzo get a well earned rest again.

My 20 year old Buck Lightning

Got a replacement Asher Knives Nomad (my original had a touch of blade play that I couldn’t easily resolve—so they sent me a new one!). Such a terrific EDC. It looks like a Bugout clone, but I actually like it better. And it’s a nicer design for me than the Sanrenmu Land 910.

FreeTiger FT11 with 14C28N blade and matching color alu backspacer:

That’s a seriously cool looking knife. Color is fantastic!

Thanks! I always wanted to try a FreeTiger with purple G10 and this new model with 14C28N blade gave me the final push.

I received two knives today.

I only EDC one knife at a time, and one of the knives probably will not be EDC'd anytime soon.

...

First up is the Kershaw Passage 1361.

This knife is a budget all-steel version of the Kershaw Oblivion 3860.

The Passage has a better clip than the Oblivion, but the assisted-opening mechanism works better in the Oblivion.

EDIT:

Also, you have to press pretty hard on the flipper to open up the Passage.

Here's where I praise the Oblivion:

Next up is the Kershaw Believer 2070.

This knife is really nice, and the clip is great as well.

It seems a little small after carrying the Oblivion, but I like it a lot.

Because I like the Oblivion more than the Passage, and I've been carrying the Oblivion for a while now, I'm going to EDC the Believer.

By the way, I had to adjust the pivot screw of both of my new knives.

Now they open up much better.

Carrying this BokerXL auto for a few days . Thought it would be too big for the pocket , but I really don’t notice any difference from the one I carry for work . This big blade is pretty awesome.

One of these days one of us is going to convince you to make the step to the Dark Side and invest in a ZT or Benchmade You are getting so close….

You now you want a ZT 562.

Yessss…. Feel the pull of CF and Titanium with a CPM 20CV blade…. Only ever having to sharpen it one time every two or 3 years and using a strop every 6 months at the most. Feel the pull….

Anyhow It is good to see you are still trying different blades and seeing what you like.

Do the super steels really hold up that well? I just cut a few boxes or bags open at work every day and have to strop my S30V (or equivalent) knives every week or two, and sharpen like once a month.

To me that doesn’t sound that unusual. A super steal will probably extend your sharpening frequency but then again it will take you considerable longer to sharpen.
From my experience sharpening something like M390 quickly, needs diamond or CBN abrasives and that can be rather expensive. Otherwise it will take longer to sharpen.

Considering I think my sharpening skill is lacking too… this answer saved me money, thank you!

As moderator007 said, it’s quite an investment to get to the point where you can properly sharpen high end steel. Originally, I wanted to get an M390 blade for the “allure” of it. Some people do and just admire it, never honing/sharpening. Collectible shelf-queens to then sell at a later point. But if you’re going to use it, you need the sharpening skill & time to do it. S35VN is about as far as I’m going, I think. While it’s tougher to sharpen than 8Cr13Mov, it’s easier than D2.

TwoSun TS227 micarta with a pretty impressive blade:

There's a Kershaw knife with a D2 blade that I have my eye on.

It's over $50 right now on eBay, but if the price drops somewhat I think I'll get it.

For cutting boxes, nothing is better than a scandi grind. Still impressive that you only need to sharpen it once a month, might be once a week with a cheap steel.
