[Review] RovyVon Angel Eyes E200u Multifunctional LED Flashlight

https://imgur.com/47ce5BlHi all, long time lurker but first time poster. This is my review for the Angel Eyes E200u flashlight. It was released in early June 2020.

RovyVon sent this flashlight to me for a review. I will be fair and review the light as if I paid my own money for it.

The Angel Eyes E200 series includes 3 models – E200u (what I got), E200s, and E200r. The E200u uses a dual-chip LED which makes UV-C (270nm) and UV-A (390nm-400nm) available on the same LED. The E200s uses CREE XP-G3 LEDs for both front and sidelight (Front is 6500K and Side is 5000K for color temperature). And the E200r has red and blue LEDs for the front light and CREE XP-G3 LEDs for the sidelight.

My E200u was shipped to me on 18th of June and I got it in Australia on 25th of June. I was surprised given I picked the cheapest postage option; plus all the slowdown the virus has caused. I have since been playing with the light. Here are my thoughts and comments:

  • Quality seems very high, which I expect for the price (USD $99.95)
  • It’s bright for the size, producing max 1,650 lumens from 2 x CREE XP-G3. I have no way of measuring how bright it actually is so just stating the advertised number
  • The light does get warm on max brightness but never too hot to handle
  • Brightness goes down on max setting after about 45 – 50 seconds. Transition from max to lower brightness is very smooth, there are no noticeable jumps
  • Front 2 emitters are CREE XP-G3 so the tint is white. Personally I am not a fan of this and prefer warmer tint. Maybe in the future RovyVon will provide other options, as they do on their other lights
  • E200u is advertised as having UV-C (270nm) and UV-A (390nm-400nm). RovyVon claim UV-C can be used for sterilization but I can’t test or prove this. I don’t know if this flashlight is powerful enough to sterilize anything. I have tried UV-A and can confirm it lights up protective features of my passport and paper money (Australian dollars). I have also tried it on dried up blood but the UV didn’t show/highlight it
  • Magnets in the back are strong. They hold the light in place well
  • This is one of the more unusual lights I have come across. I get the impression that it might be over engineered. I am used to seeing lights with just one button for everything, including battery level check. This one has 4 dedicated small LED’s to display battery level (25%, 50%, 75%, 100%) and 2 separate power buttons (1 for front LEDs and 1 for side UV LEDs). I not saying it’s bad, but these extras would just add to the cost of making this light, and it’s not cheap. At the same time these extras do make the light easier to use
  • There are screw threads on the tail of the light. I presume it’s to attach the light to a tripod to fix it in place. But I don’t know how useful it will be if the light is standing upright when screwed in
  • A decent pocket clip is included with the light allowing it to be attached to a cap to work as a headlamp

Pros

  • High quality light
  • Bright for the size
  • USB C rechargeable, quick charging
  • Easy to operate
  • UV-A and UV-C in a small package
  • Magnets in the tail
  • E200u comes in a nice protective box

Cons

  • I am not a fan of the white tint of front LEDs
  • Not cheap
  • Small plastic cover for UV lights is hard to put on
