The 0.25lux standard for determining a light’s range is not the most practical, and I think it can actually dissuade people from throwers. Like you say, you can’t even see stuff a mile away so why would I need a light that throws that far? But it’s always nice to have more beam intensity at closer range. For example 1Mcd at 300m is only 11lux. That level of illumination is definitely not overkill.
For those asking about the setup of the LED’s, yes they are in 4S arrangement and besides the mcpcb and LED’s everything else is the same as the GT4. Thats the only reason it was done honestly as I do not foresee large numbers of these selling simply due to the cost.
Still should be an impressive combo of lumens and throw.
SVK89 is the one that first suggested using 4x SBT90.2 LED’s in this light, I had pretty much dismissed them due to the cost they would add but he and a few others (sorry, can’t remember all the names) convinced me to push the idea.
I am supposed to have one sent to me next week, I will see how it shakes out in the real world then.
Like Djozz I just wish it was available in NW and/or high CRI.
Well the GT90 was on my Christmas list and now I see this! 30,000lm at 1300m Holly flashlights Batman! 1 90.2 is impressive in the right reflector but 4 is incredible! I wonder what a 90.2 behind a reflector lens would look like
I always appreciate seeing hardware in the hands of an attractive woman. I don’t care if it’s guns, knives, chainsaws, big flashlights, etc. I also don’t care if the outfit is ridiculous, such as wearing a bikini while shooting an AR-15. Of course, the woman in the ad here is reasonably dressed and looks like she is in a reasonable setting to use a powerful flashlight.
The actual product and its technical specifications matter most. It’s just nice to see attention to aesthetics in showing off a product or its use.
Well, no, but that’s the output level where it might become a more useful super thrower. That tech will only get cheaper and more available; maybe we will see affordable multi LEP lights.
The GT94 is at the top of my list but will have to wait till income tax return. This is not an inexpensive flashlight by any means. 40,000 pennies is a lot of copper! or should I say 97.5% zinc and 2.5% copper as of mid 1982 to date
