Overview: All Eneloop batteries 2005-2024

NiMH are nominal 1.2 V and they excel for their purpose.

How many devices out there require 1.5V minimum?

Most standard or alkaline batteries do not stay at 1.5V very long. For those applications, something like Tenavolts (1.5V Li-Ion) may be best.

Not many that I have personally, but my current clamp ( uni-t 210E) starts reporting wrong numbers when the cells are under ~1.45V, it’s really bad. My meteo station modules seems to have a high cut off, although not as bad.

I’m wary of the potential self discharge rate of a li-ion cell coupled with a voltage converter, but more importantly they are extremely expensive.

Yes. Luckily I bought some on sale for under $12 for 4 AA Tenavolts and a charger. That’s about the same price as 4 eneloops.

I am using them in one of my universal Harmony remotes.

This:

I need to try the luck with 10440.

If that sensor is going to sit outside, exposed to significant temperature extremes, your best bet would be lithium primary.

One of my old Canon digicams would show low battery almost immediately (maybe take a half dozen photos first, that’s about all) with any NiMH. I put some lithium primaries in and they were good for a couple hundred pics.

Some devices don't really like NiMH batteries because of their voltage, but that doesn't mean they still are one of the best rechargeable NiMH batteries on the planet..

New fake Eneloops spotted in India this time. Thanks to a reader named Shashi, who tipped me.

What do you think looks weird on this packaging?

and

“Japan technology” would not be on the packaging. Plus some other details like the graphics don’t look right. Shame on people for copying Eneloops. Plus, correct me if I’m wrong, but the LSD Eneloops are made by FDK I believe. No one else makes them to my knowledge since it’s a trade secret.

Maybe try comparing with a couple of AAA Eneloop (both are genuine Eneloops, left side is "Made in China" ; right side is "Made in Japan")

Thanks for the great comparison!

The fake package mentions Min. 800mAh, which I have never seen on any AAA package.

Also, Japan Technoly.... whatever that means.

So funny to see the backside of the Chinese made Eneloops d_t_a ... it says with large letters: Eneloop Technology from JAPAN to the world.. but are made in China. Just an interesting detail I just noticed.

When I was a kid growing up in Sweden, the label on the honeyjar said in large writing, “Authentic Swedish Honey” and in smaller writing, “Made in Hungary”

Hahaha. that is funny.

I had the same: The best dried Hawaiian Mangoes.
but in small font on the back: from the Phillipines..

hahaha

With most things, you have to go to a third party to get fakes, but eneloop makes their own Chinese “JAPAN Technology” fakes.

Have there been any recent comparisons of the Chinese vs Japanese eneloops. (I just buy Ikea Laddas anyway in Australia).

No, not that I know of, unfortunately!

My Japanese website is online, in case you are Japanese or living in Japan :D https://chibim.com/

Still need to add many pages, but will go slowly.

And how low can you go knockoffs:

White Eneloop PRO.. lol.

13.6 euros for 20 batteries.

Thanks to Fabian for sharing.

Could you please send me some pictures of the packaging and of the batteries?
