*BLF LT1 Lantern Project) (updated Nov,17,2020)

Sofirn is probably trying to sell most of their ‘black’ stock before offering colors……JMO

I think it’s about time I invested in one of these. Is BG currently the cheapest place to get one?

@Sofirn or anybody else: Do you know when Version 5.0 will be available again on sofirnlight.com?

I’m not sure what coupon codes might be available for Banggood, but generally Sofirn’s Aliexpress page is the cheapest place.

Is the BLF LT1 designed to be powered by USB-C without the battery cage 24/7? I would like to use it as a nightlight which should run the whole evening/night/morning on 300-400 lumens. Would be a shame if it dies after some weeks/months.

It can run continuously from the USB port (no batteries) from a wall charger or power supply, but i recommend on lower modes only, 150 lumens or less) so it don’t over heat the driver/charging circuits from long tern running.

So I just got back from several days in the woods with 2 LT1s (put to their first test), and they performed so beautifully - the warm glow coming from our rustic cabin made it look like we had electricity and had intentionally created ambiance with lamps! 4 nights and the batteries are still at 3.9v. The true testament is when my wife, completely unprompted, remarked, “those lanterns are amazing - where did you get them? They’re just really well made.” Very well done, everyone!

Banggood have a flash sale, AUD73.07 cheaper than the group buy last year due to FX variation

Can’t justify a third :frowning:

:+1:

Colors… I want colors

Sofirn said that a new batch of LTs are coming soon in green, orange, and desert tan. In addition 200pcs will have USB-C output functionality (not sure what colors for these).

Sounds nice, can I reserve a desert tan with powerbank function?

You might want to PM the BLF Sofirn rep to see if that’s possible to do. All that was mentioned was that they’re coming soon but didn’t mention price or where they would be sold from.

Yes. It will be available again soon.

Considering previous timelines, I cant help but wonder if “Soon” means the same thing in Chinese as it does in English., I guess we will know ‘sometime’ in the future.

LOL on par with Chinese lumens ?

I have seen in the latest users photos of Aliexpress that the newest LT1 come without any pads connected. Has anything changed? Maybe now the solder it’s inside?

The newest LT1 uses 0Ω resistors instead of solder blobs, because that allows automated manufacture instead of manual soldering, which helps Sofirn’s quality control.

If you look very closely at the image, you’ll see four tiny resistors, two labelled R_AMC4 and two labelled R_AMC5. Those are the ones. There’s one of each on the WW side, and one of each on the NW side.

The solder pads were left to give people flexibility in changing the maximum brightness of their lanterns. If you desolder the resistors to reduce brightness and increase runtime, but change your mind, you can increase the brightness again by soldering the pads and save yourself messing about putting the resistors back.

Thanks for the explanation. If I understand correctly the pads 4 and 5 are connected with two resistors and the pads 6 and 7 are not. So if I want to unlock all the power I just have to solder the pads 6 and 7 like I did in the old version.

Yes, that’s right.
