✌ FREEME - ASTROLUX MF05 SBT90.2 7000lm 3000m+ Thrower Searchlight - $390 (restocked) + Free Charger

Whoa, what do you intend to do with it?

He has never owned a light that he did not take apart. https://budgetlightforum.com/t/-/62607/7

I'm wondering too - OSRAM W1?

Not sure yet i just want to see what is inside :person_facepalming:

I have the MT90P+ version of this light. My fan handle actually has 4 different modes.
3 clicks turns it on high
double click while on switches to pulse mode,
another double click puts it in random fan power mode
another double click puts it in low mode. cant hear it in low mode… then press and hold to turn off.

Yes, you're correct. I have that in the review as well. Still think it's a little strange.

Still no update on my MF05 since August 8th. Did anyone else choose USA Priority Mail as their shipping method and are experiencing the same issue? I have not received confirmation that mine is in the US yet.

Same here, mine was also USA Priority Mail, no updates since August 7th. Tracking on aftership shows it is actually a China EMS (ePacket), probably would transition to USPS priority once it hits the shores. I’m wondering if they assumed there was a battery in it and sent it to a boat instead of an airplane, aftership shows it being ‘returned’ twice, then sent again, so something (another unrelated package possibly) in the shipping container it was using probably was causing them to not want to load it. All guesses, hoping I hear something soon.

Did you see a note in tracking history, about entry to USA Customs?

Also, just a mention about observing battery carrier correct polarity. Somewhere out there, someone using modified carriers did not correctly observe battery polarity and as a result, phun duqued up.

Even when the light and/or the carrier is unmodified, I try to take the whatever I am thinking about out of my head, and think about slowing down and double checking correct cell polarity. It's not easy, because I have three Led Zeppelin songs playing loud in my head, while I am worrying about the decline and fall of human civilization, while I am inserting cells into a light or carrier, while I am in a rush to make people happy on time.

Hääääääääää,what the heck?

I dont have a stock MT90P+. I bought Vinhs fully modded Spec C version with driver VNX2. Features continuous turbo(no step down). 2S4P battery configuration. can run any number of cells. 1 cell can still give over 2mcd, Internal resistance made as low as possible. With all the cells Vinh measured 2.9mcd. However he only measures at 7.5 meters. I measure at 10 meters. I got 3.3mcd. I was like damn maybe i dd something wrong. after mutiple tests i was getting from 3.15 - 3.3 mcd every time. My suspensions were confirmed when another member with the same Spec C light got 3.2mcd. He also measured at 10 meters. That said I still dont think even 10 meters is far enough. The beam on this beast is still converging on its self at 10 meters and does not fully mature until about 15 meters so for now take these throw readings with a grain of salt until i can try a lux test farther away.

Throw Measurements
MT90Vn+ spec C: 3.3 MCD
Maxtoch L2K LEP: 2.089 MCD
K75VN with VN2X: 1.7 MCD
FireFox FF5 4300K: 1.2 MCD
Firefox FF5 6000K: 930 KCD

I did a heat test to see how well this massive host can tame the SBT90 led . I did with out fan first and then with the fan. I think the results speak for them selves. With no fan output only drops 10% from minute 1 - 10

I compare the light to a few of my other lights below.

Top left MT90Vn+ Spec C, Top right Maxtoch L2K LEP, bottom is my K75vn(low exposure shot at 9 meters to show intensity difference)

I just received my Astrolux MF05 from BangGood today. What a beast. Light works great, except for the fan. Fan will not turn on with 3 clicks to the button. When inserting a freshly charged 21700 battery, plus (+) side facing in, there is no initial flashing button light. Fan does not work! I've watch a youtube video of a working fan and followed the button clicks to lock/unlock, turn on, etc... and nothing happens.

Battery: 21700 Samsung INR21700-40T 4000mAh High Discharge Flat Top

Any ideas?

I will contact BangGood tomorrow and see if it's even possible to get a replacement fan.

thanks!

maybe the battery must be button top? since the 40t isnt… otherwise idk…

BangGood links fan battery spec for the light to: Golisi S35 IMR 21700 3750mAh 40A High Capacity Unprotected Flat Top Rechargeable Li-ion Battery

Besides the 4000mAh vs. 3750mAh, aren't both batteries equivalent flat tops? INR vs. IMR?

All that matters is the battery length and shape. Capacity and chemical type are irrelevant.

Before assuming that the fan driver is defective, I would make sure that we are getting power to the fan driver. The lack of initial flashing button light indicates it may not be getting power.

liteupmynite,

I don't have my light yet, but several people have said that you really have to crank down on the fan handle tail cap to make the connection work. And that hand tightening wasn't enough. There is a video on youtube showing the fan handle with your battery, so perhaps it's just a matter of really tightening the cap? Good luck on getting it to work, Zandar

For the fandle tailcap, you need to insert a nickel into the slot and rotate until properly seated/tightened. You need a nickel for that last little bit of leverage.

Hope this helps.

I dismantled the fan handle as much as I dare. I can access the wires connected to the top of the fan motor. I assume the fan driver is somewhere inside the handle, under the button's location. Any suggestions on how I can test the voltage leading into the fan driver without any further dismantling of the fan handle and/or cutting wires?

I saw that video and I tried that.

I used a quarter to tighten the tail cap.

I sent a message from BangGood.com requesting help with the defective light. No reply yet.

Thanks everyone for your replies.
