Sofirn SC31 PRO, New Anduril Flashlight

Did some research on this. Best as I can tell without pulling the driver, it's a FET+1, based on:

  • no 7135's on the underside of the driver
  • if there was a bank of 7135's, they would have to put them on the vertical board where the USB charging is - doubt there's enough space
  • I can clearly see a slight flicker at about 0.35 amps, coinciding with the 7135. Ramping up to the default ramp top of 3.85 amps, I can't see any other flicker in that range, and if 3.85 amps was the top of the bank, there would have to be 11 7135's in the bank - very much doubt enough space.

Btw, the bezel is glued with blue stuff, probably Loctite. I got it open with sticky blue gloves, but was a little tough, not too bad.

Using a very good VTC5D cell, with the SST-40 6500K: 7.9 amps at the tail, 2240 lumens at start, 2070 lumens at 15 secs, 19 kcd (276 meters). The springs don't look like anything special - bypasses would probably get a bump.

I'll probably at least attempt to remove and get a good look at the driver.

Noticed some odd readings from mine as well. 4.3 when its 4.14 (right after charging)
One time it blinked out 3.3 first then 3.8(actual), even the temp check will go up a couple c after first check.

Checked charging voltage on mine.

Charge terminated at 4.2 blinks indicated by the light.
Digital multimeter showed 4.14 volts.

I checked the voltage offset on mine once again. After charging the Sofirn battery in my Nitecore UMS-2 it has a resting voltage of 4.16V. Once inserted into the SC31 Pro it blinked out 4.3V. That’s an offset of at least 0.14V (potentially up to 0.23V).

On TLF some people noticed sharp edges on the heat fins as well as a foggy glas lens. I can confirm both on my sample, too. However, it is not as severe as on some previous models in the past (SC31B, SP33 V2).

I can confirm the Pro is FET+1. It follows the design of the SP36, as they claim they are running the same exact Anduril version as for the SP36.

I pulled the driver. Weak glue holds it in place. 4 wires to the side switch. Used a solder pick to push down on the driver thru the LED+ wire hole, no hammering, just pressure - didn't damage anything. The driver has Chinese lettering on it, based on the SP36 design.

Think mine reads voltage high as well. Sounds like all the differences reported read high.

The charger in the SC31B that I gave away was a little weird too. The light turned green at about 4.something but it continued charging for what seemed like forever. Finally it stopped charging(I was watching it on a USB tester) at about 4.17 volts. It didn’t overcharge but it also didn’t stop when the light turned green either.

Thank you very much Tom!!! :+1:

Thank you very much Tom :+1:
did you take any picture of the disassembly ?

Just received mine, there are no apparent flaws visible like misaligned charging port or foggy lens. As it uses FET+1 driver, is it safe to run it with 30Q or VTC6 I have laying around?

Which USB tester do people recommend please

Ran mine first few hours on a topped-off 25R (more current that the above), so should be fine there.

Yep, can post this eve.

This is what I have so far:

Thanks Tom E. This is helpful.
Do you have to de-soldier the switch wires to pull the driver out?

I didn't for the pics. Dunno yet - didn't take the switch cover off yet - sometimes you can squeeze the switch board thru the hole. Even if you can't, I've dremel'ed out the hole a bit to make it fit thru on other lights. You could though leave it like I have it to re-program. You can get access to the MCU this way. The FET is somewhat buried behinf the USB-C connector.

The springs don't seem to get fully compressed on a flat top cell, so could probably pick up some power by adding bypasses.

The white stuff is thermal grease, not glue - actually looks like decent quality - moist, right amount applied.

Hi all, sofirn SC31pro are avaiable on amazon US now! Please click this link to join our deals!

Thanks Tom E, your pictures and your Description in post #150 are really really helpful. I ordered 2 SC31 Pro, i think I can try one for experiment/learning  , I’m interested in Anduril-2

That’s a really good news!

How many lumens at minimum of ramp?

Just got mine after a hold up in customs. Really impressed. Excellent value and no issues noted. I will order another.
