Yes, you can add the file extension. I do this for people all the time. If it’s a picture you took then you know it should be a jpg. If it’s a picture you swiped from the Web then it gets tricky. On the Imgur website open the single picture and copy the direct link. This may or may not work. I’m always using my phone and the Imgur app tends to work way better. I try to open other people’s Imgur links in the app so I can get a good link to post.
On blf I use the simple post editor and I click on the little button that looks like the orange sunset (next to the green film) and I always set the size. Usually 100%, but sometimes smaller. Then I always add something to the next line (under the image code) Either more text or single dot. This helps when people try to qoute your post.
I consider BLF a pretty small, niche forum. We get lots of new users for group buys, but then they dissappear and it’s just a small group of people again.
Maybe if everyone had to pay a monthly fee to use the forum SB could use a more expensive hosting site, but then there would probably be even less users. I’m kinda glad this forum is free. Using an off site host for puctures is not that big a deal in my mind.
…..
Similar situation with me, I’m always using mobile phone, the screen is small (compared to pc) , it’s difficult sometimes. But it’s always mobile , very practical for almost all situations.
I’m glad too that blf is still free.
Hosting images on another site turned out to be not so scary/difficult at all, with abload.de and postimage.org , it’s quite easy to figure out .
Do you use more than one hosting sites? Which one is the “best” according to your experience?
.
For basic image posting on most forums I frequent, I use imgur – I know it’s not an option for you, but it is pretty easy to use (on a PC at least) and gives you many options of posting the same image in various sizes.
I also use flickr sometimes – the advantage of flickr is that it doesn’t strip EXIF data from photos, for those times when I want such data preserved and visible, like when discussing photography techniques on photography forums.
Yeah, once you figure out how to post pics, it’s not that tough.
I think the hardest part is deciding which image hosting site to use.
Heck, I learned how to post pics with a German image hosting site, and I don’t speak a lick of German!
I had similar experience with abload.de , I was kinda “scared” at first
…..
I’ve got bad experience before abload.de , I tried imgur, Google Drive, Google Photo, no luck at all for me.
I almost gave up and accepted the (false)fact that I could never be able to do it.
Then flickr, it’s rather complicated, but it works.
…..
IME, postimage.org and abload.de are simple and easy.
Your tutorial and tips have been really helpful
Hopefully it’ll encourage more people for hosting+posting images. It makes blf more fun.

Thanks for sharing your experience. It’s good to know what works best for certain needs/situations.
But I still can’t upload pictures with this method
Tell us what you have tried and what happens. We need to know what you have done, step by step in order to help fugure out what is not working.
To use correct terminology helps too; at least for me. Ee don’t actually upload images to the forum. We upload images to a host service and then post a link to that in our forum post. So when you say you can’t upload I don’t know if you are having trouble with getting the image to a hosting service or having trouble making that image visible here.
