Unfortunately I was too lazy to document the process which included the following mods:
- rounding the corner of the lock- bar;
- slightly reshaping the wooden handle scales then finishing them with some linseed oil;
- replacing the nylon washers to bronze ones;
- reprofiling the edge using 120# to 3000# diamonds and the UF rods of the Sharpmaker as the last step;
I also had to replace the pivot screw since the original one was so heavily locktited I had to drill it out.
Yeah, I’d want to get rid of those nylon washers and go to bronze too. That’s disappointing they used such serious Loctite on it that required drilling out the pivot screw. I see it’s a mini (V15 Razor) and it was sold back in 2018… not available any longer. Bummer!
I can’t upload a photo via mobile as i use tapatalk and this forum isn’t available…. but today i’m EDC’ing a Chris Reeve Large Inkosi in red micarta. Normally it’s a carbon fiber/titanium spyderco military in s90v. And i always have a victorinox minichamp in my pocket with whatever blade i’m carrying.
That is beautiful! what size blade? i may be buying one. I love my bugout, but i like the look of this knife better. nice high flat looking grind, which i prefer greatly. I love this forum page as i very regularly see knives i’ve never even heard of before. i got into knives before flashlights, but both within the last two years.
My EDC most days (FH-41 in D2). I can abuse it, dont worry if i were to lose it. I dont much like clones as it kind of rubs me the wrong way. although this isn’t a clone (i don’t think) i know Ganzo makes them regularly, i just don’t buy those models. I only buy what looks like, to me, to be an original design. speaking of which, this knife’s design is great. Fits in my (XL glove size) hands very well. Fall shut action which is impressive for a $20 knife found on Amazon.
Thanks. The blade is 3.2” long. Weight is 3.5oz. The minimalist design is what initially drew me to it and the build quality is excellent. Plus axis-lock & S35VN. Thinner profile than most knives I’ve owned makes it an ideal EDC. Phosphor bronze washers. After opening/closing for a few days, breaking in the washers, action is so smooth.
That is awesome to know the axis lock works well, always worries me a little since it is still relatively new to the open market and even Benchmade has issues with it occasionally and they’ve been doing it for 25 years. S35vn - super steel and nice internals all for under $75 it looks like, awesome value! I may get the one with the harpoon blade. Looks cool too. Plus the one you have looks out of stock at the moment. or I could just practice patience.

It’s very nice, flipper action is excellent, and it feels well made. Just a tad heavy for edc tho.
Asher works directly with a maker in China that also serves some of the bigger knife houses. Justin was really on top of QC. They do have a lot of interesting offerings. I got a discount on my Nomad when I bundled it with a Tracker (fixed blade), which also turned out to be an excellent buy.

Link didn’t work for me, but searched it on BHQ, nice Knife! Solid price for g10 / D2. I like bigger EDC’s so i my have to try that one. I was on a 3” & under EDC kick until I realized my hands are just large enough to not be able to comfortably use many sub 3” blades day in and out. That is except the elementum ! Love that knife, just wish it had a flat grind, but not a deal breaker. Im sure there are others but i don’t even look at sub 3” anymore. I really want to try the ferrum forge / drop Gent ( i think its called that) it looks like the flat ground version of the elementum to me. I have an XL glove size, my hands aren’t huge but my mini griptilian is almost unusable for anything but opening mail because i cannot get a solid grip. Needless to say my Rat 1 (heavy!) and Baklash (Perfect weight!) get the most use. The Civivi Dogma was also a pleasant surprise- very light and solid size.

Ganzo makes a lot copies, clones, and mashups of existing designs without permission. I agree in not approving of that. Those knives are usually made of soft 440C and aren’t of the highest quality.
However, their FH line are all original designs and are made to a higher standard of quality. They use Chinese D2 which is treated to a decent hardness. In my experience, these are pretty good knives for the money. They make great beaters and I agree on the value of carrying a knife without worry.
Of course, the FH line isn’t perfect. QC could use improvement. There can be a little variation from one example to the next. For instance, the detent on my FH41 was pretty weak and needed to be tweaked. Like a lot of knives with nested liners at this price, it also benefited from a little scale filing. There are two things that make the FH line great. The first is value for the price and it’s easy to forgive the issues here because of that. The second is that these are original designs. As Ganzo continues to see success with these and this line continues to grow, I hope they’ll eventually abandon their clone business.
Twosun TS182 M390.
The thumb studs had a very sharp rim edge on them. I had to grind them down and round off the edge. Now it’s a great knife. I love the solid carbon fiber scales. The M390 blade is wicked sharp. Great pivot action.
I like all my Civivi’s, really nice knives. The Dogma is excellent, smooth as butter action. My Elementum had an issue with the pocket clip moving, when I tried to loctite it I found the screw threads stripped, I contacted Civivi and they shipped me some screws which I’m still waiting on and had to pay $5 shipping fee…not the end of the world but I have gotten clips and screws for free from Kershaw so thats the only downside I have found with them. Hard to complain when you get a nice storage case and microfiber cloth with each knife. Also recently ordered a Fracture(also in the mail), but not sure how much use it will get being a non locking blade, but couldnt resist the price
I agree with everything you have said here. Especially about forgiving any issues with their original releases. Although i think i got lucky becuase mine is pretty solid, although detent is a little weak i like the feel. I use it daily and sharpen and touch up/strop the blade and the d2 is nice. like the grind, like the g10 used. Just solid edc. Im gonna try the filing of the liners like you mentioned. thanks!
Some reviewers pointed out FH41 is almost the same as a knife called the Shamwari by Gareth Bull, Fh11 a Liong Mah(SP?) copy, if you search google images it seems eerily similar…I’m not a Ganzo hater, I have that FH41 and its a good knife but they may still be up to their old tricks
