I follow and agree with the scientific studies showing trends in upward climate temps that correlate to industrial output levels. No amount of political “spin” will change what most of the scientific community (not in cahoots with some “association” or whatever) agree has happened. And it’s a documented fact we are accelerating in over-all heat on our planet as a whole… setting all-time recorded heat records almost every new year now.
Now, all that said above… looking WAY back over the last say couple of hundred thousand years there are SEVERAL points where the planet went SUPER-COOL— overnight! Many theories on why… comet/meteor strikes, other planets stopping by, crust rotation, etc. And some validated recent cooling trends in the last few thousand years (like the “little ice age” around the 16th century) happened without any massive (read: single catastrophic event) carbon/methane/volcanic emissions that have been confirmed AFAIK to date. Some think a volcano in the 12th century might have effected it’s starting along with glacial movements around the world— but who knows eh?
But yes… I have a photo-voltaic system on my home in Kansas and I’m one of less than .01% of electrical customers who does (the major electric company here is like all the rest- draconian and trying every angle to screw us out of our credits and they ARE doing it sadly). But still I know every hot day that I am not using coal generated electricity AND if everyone used solar we’d need a lot less generation over-all. Hawaii and lots of smaller island areas that don’t want to disturb some fantastic beauty (their bread and butter- tourism), HAVE figured out how to do solar right. But when you are in say West Texas (where I am from seven generations ago), you look around and figure a few coal plants (or now windmills) won’t change anything. But they have their “impact” on the globe- good and bad. And NOW we Kansas electrical customers are being charged a premium for “wind generated” electricity (selling “green” by the bucket load of stank— as usual).
Wall Street always wins… at least for now. But never know when that might change; for better or worse. But like George Carlin said, no need to worry about the planet… when it’s done with us- we’ll KNOW it!
