Let’s see what flashlights we can find with the most extreme advertising!
Rules:
- Light has to be available for sale to general public or expected to be in the future (eg Kickstarter)
- Post a screenshot of the light
- Don’t post a link, in case people follow it accidentally
- If you have a rough idea then post the actual lumens and how many times greater it’s advertised at
- Other examples of ridiculous advertising are welcome: throw, water resistance, hardness, etc
- No prizes for the winner aside from a sense of achievement
- Have fun
I’ll start off:
Supposedly this is a 90,000 lumen light. I think these are about 200lm in reality, so this is a 450 times increase.

According to ebay this light can be “selected” with the 1,000,000 lm brightness option at time of purchase.
The very cheap looking light has no indication of LED, brand or driver that might be inside, so I assume it will in the low hundreds on lumen.
Let’s assume a conservative 250 lm estimate and this sale would be a 4,000x increase.

I love posting this image every now and then...
I believe it's from a HKJ review.

I’ve never measured that, so I couldn’t give an accurate baseline. I’ll pretend it has the possibility of 1,000 loomsies. Possibly more, possibly less. Say 3,000x fudgefactor.
Went looking for OP’s light armed solely with the knowledge that all you have to do to get more lumens is add moar zeros. Ask and y’all shall receive.
9,000,000 / 200 = 45,000x! I win. Until someone’s brave enough to type even moar zeros!
9 million lumens! This has to be the best one I have ever seen

I see these adds on Pinterest a lot and the funny thing is you can see one person in the video holding the Imalent MS18, priceless!

In Brasil millions of lumens (and hundreds of thousands of watts) are common…

It’s like a double fraud with the FAST ‘N FREE nonsense text in the image. It’s just standard shipping.
The headlamp in that first link, though. It’s like a forehead-mounted personal pizza with LEDs for pepperoni.
I present you this:
And those are Murrrrcan lumens, too!
See the flag?

3.12 million lumens in a zoomie! What’s not to like?
These are excellent!
I guess you need that 12,000mAh 18650 cell to get more than a second of runtime at 9 million lumens.
Keep ‘em coming.

Yokiamy, that’s a full grandma pizza! Complete with all the anchovies and werther’s original one could possibly want! Even includes grandmas glasses that fell in as she was putting it in the oven.
Is it really that large? I noticed another scam is by showing things far larger than they really are. Like, a 20cm light that’s portrayed to be as long as a baseball bat. Or if it’s something that’s supposed to be small, then it’s unbelievably small, like a camera that fits on your fingertip.

And people still get scammed buying the $700 100 000 lumens Imalent MS18 while they could have had the same output with a 19$ dollar flashlight… very sad
I think with the MS18 you actually get that at turn on. Just a couple seconds or whatever. Nothing for $19 will do that for any length of time. That said, I have a camera strobe that runs on 4AAs that outputs a legitimate 1,500,000 lumens. No really, it’s been tested. Only lasts about 1/250th of a second, though. But still. 1.5 million…
After having seen the reviews of these items… it is shocking how little average consumers know about lumens, flashlights, or technology at all. Most of the reviews are positive! They really believe they had a deal here…. omg
> Which TV show did you watch last? <
I don’t think most of the reviews are legit. If they are, I suspect a disturbing number of negative reviews get removed to manufacture the appearance of general satisfaction.
Then again, many people are still getting their first flashlight that actually delivers 200 lumens. So it doesn’t matter what the rating is, it’s still way brighter than their 18-lumen alkaline-powered light from the grocery store.
Yeah, if you’re only used to incandescent lights and lights on phones then these cheap zoomies are going to seem very impressive. I think they actually throw a couple of hundred meters when zoomed out (before the switch fails).
I just found a X800 clone on AliExpress for £3.50 ($4.50) with free shipping. I’ve just ordered it and will put it to the test when it arrives.

Found one to beat 9 million lumens:
Here it is folks, the Eighty million lumen flashlight
This new LED technology is as bright as 800 Imalent MS18 flashlights combined.
(Actual lumens about 200, if you’re lucky, so 400,000 times increase)

Eighty Million Lumens ?!?

Looking on Wish for blatantly over-stated specs?! That’s like stealing 10180-cell keychain lights from a baby.
Ok, if that’s how you wanna play.
99 million lumens! 495,000x
Unfortunately it’s sold out .

Don’t worry, the next batch will be 100 million lumens !!!?

This should be a really good one, 4 stars after 323 reviews.
A 999900000LM Zoomie…
Only one review. One star. Probably about the UI. Which one of you was it? Just because a light doesn’t come with Anduril doesn’t mean it’s bad. Sheesh.
Hmmm, they couldn’t squeak out that 1 extra lumen, eh?
