I quess it is SST40 5000K. As far as I know, the SST40 5000K starts at around 4000K in low modes, and becomes colder when you ramp it up. So I think it is fine that in turbo it looks colder.
I tried charging a KeepPower IMR18350 in the SC31 Pro.
Discharged to 2.8V.
Setup:
- Wall wart with USB-A socket providing 5V 2.4A output
- USB-A to USB-C cable connecting wall wart to USB-C input of the USB Tester
RD UM25C USB Tester with USB-A to USB-C cable connecting to the USB-C input of the SC31 Pro
5V 1.17A initially when around 2.8V
5V 1.09A when around 3.2V
When I switched to USB3 output from a laptop, it dropped to 5V 0.86A.
It’s probably not the best way to test…
KP 18350 1200mAh has a 1.1A max charge. 1.17A is a bit on the high side.
EDIT:
I later charged it with an XTAR VP2 to 4V and then inserted the 18350 into SC31 Pro to charge it more. 300-500mA charge rate. It terminated at 4.16V. I put it back in the XTAR VP2 to get it to 4.19V.
I suppose this is one scenario wherein a lower-rating (older) USB power adapter will be useful…
In general, I often shelve aside lower-current (older) USB power adapters since I want to charge my USB devices with at least 1 Amp or higher.
I have a related question: I have some “poor quality” USB cables that pass very low current, eg. even if I use a 5v/2.4A USB power adapter, it will only charge at 0.5A or lower, compared to when I use a good quality USB cable. Will using a “low-quality” cable to limit the charging current be safe to use?
Yeh, I’m leaving my ’pro as-is, but most of my other lights that aren’t dedicated throwers (GTmicro, etc.) all get “fixed”.
Even the big Tacklife I got has a G3 with all its hideous tint-shift, but is nicely throwy… if you want that. Makes a great around-the-house light with diffusion film in front, a nice smooth blanket of light, and no shift.
The ’pro doesn’t really need it, but it can certainly come in handy.
I’m wondering if the SC31 Pro ordered from Sofirn AliExpress includes 2 tailcaps (1 nonmagnetic + 1 magnetic)?
I’ve ordered the SC31 Pro 5000k tint from there, but the shipping is taking quite long, so am curious if it will come with both tailcaps or just 1 tailcap (if 1 tailcap, is it the nonmagnetic or the magnetic one)?
I had previously ordered the SC31 Pro 6500k from another Sofirn site earlier (when the 5000k was not yet released), and that set came with 2 tailcaps, was curious if the set from Sofirn AliExpress will also include both tailcaps…
