Year of the Rat

Here he is!

Looks like he rocks that medal.
Pretty damn cool.

That's a cool looking rat!

My sister and I had pet rats decades ago.

They make pretty good pets, though I don't think you can housebreak them like you can with a dog or cat.

Thanks for the mine story. Yeah, they are smarter than your average squirrel. I had a chinese hooded rat for some years. Taught it to play piano for dinner. He’d run up and down the keyboard in the evening, then jump into its cage for chow. His name was Mozart. He also learned to use a litter box after about three months. He was fastidiously neat and tidy. It attacked and killed all trespassing mice or other rodents that made it through the dryer vent. It was a little unnerving waking up in the middle of the night to a maniacal rodent fight, but, that’s part of ratsmanship.

Thanks for sharing!

I had several pet rats as a kid. They’re lots of fun, and they even got along with our dogs.

When I was in high school, we had a Golden Retriever named Rose.

When Rose first saw one of our pet rats, she tried to go after it for a second, but we told her it was okay, and she never tried to go after our pet rats again.

It would be a bad idea for us to have a small animal now because my dog Charlie has been trained to kill small animals.

raccoon city. Well, it might be okay. I was obliged to rescue a couple young raccoon brothers and Spice, my dog, was trained to kill off small game on the property. Once she understood that Roddy and Lefty were part of the family they became hilarious playmates. However, she still killed the wild coons. So I guess it’s possible for big dogs to get along with small non-dogs, but you’d hate to lose a pet to find out (smile).

Interesting.

There are a lot of rats in D.C., some even have gotten awards, but they seem to create new land mines faster than anyone can defuse them.

That’s a fine rat. I have never seen a well groomed rat like that. I wonder if it has any trauma from such a stressful deployment.

Magawa RIP

That thar is finern’ frog har. :sunglasses:
