Yeah, I hear you. I am not planning to run it particularly hard or anything. I just want to to A: Not kill itself the first time I go to Turbo and B: Last a long time.
(From all the posts I read, I realised I should not expect Olight quality/reliability, but then again, the output and price/performance is also a lot better with a light like this. (Not to mention the UI, looking forward to that a lot!) So just trying to give it the best chance at lasting I can)

Think I will probably do the clean and thermal paste. I am under the impression I would not need to de-solder any wires or anything to get the LED board lifted to do the repaste? (I hope that is the case!)
Will turn it on before doing anything, just not go to high/turbo.

Will try to take pics and document the process, maybe someone else here finds it interesting.

You’ll definitely need to unsolder 5 wires if you plan to lift the MCPCB to change the thermal paste.

Dammit, that makes me more hesitant. Will check what it looks like when I do the cleaning, and make a call then.

I am still waiting for the code myself from freeme, so I went ahead and bought the MF01S with batteries during the 9.9 sale. Diffuser and holster were bought seperately.

I have two MF01S (4000K and 5000K) using the astrolux extender tube (about 20€) and they work nicely! The original MF01 worsk with it as well and the MF04 ditto.
No Problems whatsoever.
The main advantage is longer runtime. In real world I don’t see an output advantage (i.e. more light on turbo) but turbo can be maintained a little longer…

But be aware, this then is a heavy flashlight and no beauty since the tube is nearly as thick as the emitter end

Big difference in brightness 5000K vs 4000K? Color rendering much worse in 5000K? Is it true you can see the green glow at 5000K?

Do you realize that you are asking someone who posted that 9 months ago?
There is a big difference in brightness. 4000K is rated as 11000 lumens, while 5000K and 6500K are rated as 14000 and 15000 lumens respectively.
I just bought the 5000K version, much better tint than the MF01 mini 6500K (SST20x7) I have, no more green shift at low, its more yellow, than green. On the other hand, both flashlights pale in comparison to my Nichia 219c (astrolux s43).

Thank you for the information. I had the opportunity to compare personally. In fact, the 5000K seems a little brighter, but the 4000K CRI makes up for it. I choose 4000K.

How different are they? They both use TIR lenses so the beams should be fairly comparable. As a quick and cheap experiment you could apply some frosted clear tape over some of the LEDs to get a little more wider beam.
