Questions about Fire Foxes FF5 HID

Hey thanks for the help. Just ordered from Neal with all the accessories (: can’t wait to get this bad boy… I have an Acebeam W30 LEP but as amazing as it looks, it’s not very “useful”. (:

I prefer cool white, the thing is a beast under 1m it will quickly burn clothes, melt plastic. Haha everyone should have one.

Haha seriously???

Is it just the color you prefer, the look? Sounds like the 4300 is more powerful. Might have to get one of each I think (:

Seriously, you got to have one, fun to play with but this aint no toy. At out in the bush where there isnt light they are a daymaker.

Ya so sweet… I ordered the 4300K a few hours ago from Neal along with all the accessories and chose the fastest shipping. Gotta take stock of my batteries - needed some new 18350s for my Noctigon KR4 2000K that’s coming (:

What an addictive hobby huh? I never thought when I was a kid that there’d be devices like this. Can you imagine what they’ll have on another 10, 20 or 30 years?

Make sure your cells are short. Even 30q cells with very small button tops are very tight nearly unusable. Flattops I believe are recommended. The light has the throw of the blf gt but with 4 times the lumens. All that in a much smaller light. But be safe, this needs treated like the hotwires of old. I would be careful of temperature shock and the lens. Also be careful where you put the light when putting it away, don’t put it right in your coat pocket because it will melt your clothes or burn you. But have fun because it is insanely powerful.

Wow, I can’t wait to get this thing. What cells would you recommend? Max power is all I care about. Run time is not an issue because I’m going to keep extras when I’m out

Hello, the battery life of 8 batteries is about 100 minutes, which is more convenient to use. The battery is built-in and can’t be taken out. Due to the battery logistics delivery is very troublesome, many logistics companies do not mail, so the sale of foreign countries is suspended. thank you

Hello, FF5 battery is four batteries in series, the battery terminal power is about 120W, FF5 start speed is fast, so the starting current is large, FF5 needs to use flat 18650 power battery without protection, there is no need to worry about battery over discharge, because there is a protection circuit inside the FF5 battery rack. thank you

Hello, FF5 uses four batteries for about 45 minutes

Hey guy,

First of all, 4 in series blows my mind!

But i’m a little confused about the batteries. On Neal’s site, it shows a little battery holder that looks removable into which you insert 4 cells.

And the one of the accessories I bought was a battery tray that I assumed functions in the same way. I.e. put 4 cells in

Hello, the HID flashlight needs 4300k. 4300k has strong penetration. It is more suitable for use in rainy and foggy weather. In addition, the luminous efficiency of 4300k is also higher

Yes, the battery rack is more convenient to use, and the battery can be replaced at any time to increase the service life

I want a lemax bighead lx70 but I cant really justify it so I have been looking at how to put a bigger reflector on the FF5 or 4. I can probably buy the genuine head but with the reflectors I have built I am wondering how do I grind a compound reflector. The ff5 reflector looks to be the same curve as the ff4. So from the specs I could find out of curiosity plotted the curve I would like to have a reflector with the same geometry. FF6 with 6inch head??

On the fence between getting one of these two cells:

1) Samsung 30Q 18650 3000mAh 15A Battery

or… 2) Murata VTC6 IMR 18650 (formerly Sony) 3000mAh 3.7V Unprotected High-Drain 30A Lithium Manganese (LiMn2O4) Flat Top Battery

If the specs are accurate, I’d get double the current out of the Sony’s

In reality the Sony can hold higher discharge for longer, but is temperature limited. Realistically they are both 15A cells and only the Sony can do 20-25A for short periods (up to 70 or 80C), but reduces its lifespan. Unless you need that extra ‘oomph’ from the battery you’re fine with 30Q. They are a bit cheaper.

Thank you my friend. I just ordered 10 of the 30Q’s from Illumn and 4 18350’s for the KR4 and some other lights that use them  I have some other lights that take 18650’s and it will be good to have some extras around and I wanted to get to the $75 free shipping
