I DID IT!

I finally did it guys! I bought 3 new flashlights finally from 4sevens. They're not all budget flashlights but I wanted to share it with you guys first. I can't wait for them to get here. I feel like a kid who was told that he can go to a candy store but wasn't told exactly when. lol

Here's what I bought:

Quark AA² Tactical, R2 Edition (comes with a free prism kit)
Fenix E01
Fenix Digital LD10+ Black Premium Q5

What do you guys think? If they had the Nitecore D20, I would have gotten it instead of the Quark but they hardly had any Nitecores left and said that they don't plan on getting anymore. This is what they said in an email to me yesterday, "We will not be restocking the Nitecore line due to several quality and supply issues". Hmmmm, makes you wonder about Nitecore right? Oh well......

All great lights man......yeah it seems that the quality of the Nitecores have gone down a bit. So which light do you plan on edc'ing.

Those are good choices. You got a nice cross-section of lights and they are all good quality so you will have them for a long time. I don't have any Quarks, but I like the idea of the tactical ones where you can select the two modes you want. That's really all you need is two modes. And if you need another mode, you can always set it. You got the CPF discount, right?

Fenix just upgraded the LD10 to an XP-G R4, but no one has had a chance to review it yet. I bought the predecessor, L1D along with bodies for L2D and P2D as my first lights last year. My only problem with the L2D is that it is kind of long and my problem with the L1D is it isn't as bright with 1xAA and can't handle a li-ion 14500 and still retain the lower modes, though it is as bright as the L2D if you put a li-ion in there. I realized the P2D is just too small, so the even smaller Quark Mini never appealed to me. They Fenixes still super lights, so much nicer quality than the budget stuff, with very consistent output because they are well regulated and efficient. It is good to have some quality lights to set the standard that you can then judge other lights by.

A lot of people like the E01 and it makes a good keychain light with long battery life and enough light to be useful up close. I got a free keychain light with a coin cell in it after buying some other lights at GoingGear.com and that thing throws off a good bit of light. It's as bright as my old Minimag incandescent.

The only thing about 4Sevens is that because they make their own line of lights, this puts them in a conflict of interest with other mid-level brands like Eagletac and Nitecore. Both of those have pretty good reputations and yet 4Sevens has publicly trashed those companies and the quality of their lights. I have no respect for that. It's not like Quarks don't have occasional issues as well. So it is in 4Sevens' interest to make everyone think the other popular brands are crap and corral people towards their own Quarks and Preons. I would take what they say about NiteCore in the context of a competitor, not solely as a dealer. I predict they will soon be trashing Fenix as well and that Fenix will stop shipping them new products just like Eagletac and NiteCore have done. In fact it may have already happened because Fenix has released upgraded models just recently and 4Sevens doesn't seem to have them yet.

I retract my statement then....didnt even see it that way. Thats probably why there not planning on carrying them anymore.

Thank guys! I'll be putting the Fenix E01 on my key chain, the Fenix LD10+ in my pocket and the Quark AA² Tactical R2 to replace my huge plastic cheapo that seems to go thru 2D batts every week or so even when it is turned off. I still would like to have one of the Nitecore D-series flashlights because of how easy it is to use from what I saw in the video.

Go for a D10 man, you will just love it.

You have one Al? What other Nitecore's do you have?

Sure do man.....got one of the first batches. This sucker is almost two years old now, i think. Only have one and thats the D10, but my plans are getting another when i can.

COOL AL! That's a nice Gerber multi-tool you have there. I have always carried Gerber knives and my favorite is my Gerber Bolt Action Exchange folding knife with 3 extra blades (utility, gut skinner, and saw) that can be swapped out. I used it a lot for hunting and fishing when I lived in Alaska.

So which flashlight do you carry everyday?

It all depends...i tend to switch out my lights as the week goes by. I mainly carry 2 lights as my edc one being an AA and the other a 16340 single celled powered light. And back when i was in the Army i carried a Leatherman....but retired it 2 Xmas's ago. Had that sucker for 10 years and its kept up. I should give it to someone that could use it though.
