I’ve been scratching my chin over a small, but super powerful thrower with this emitter when I saw the Lumintop one and the one from Amutorch. I can’t wait to see a head to head in the future. This one has a pretty cool look to it. Their designers crafted a great looking light!
That’s around the corner but still quite a whiles a way. I’m really looking forward to this light, maybe I’ll purchase a k1 to keep me entertained for the time being.
This is interesting. I have to ask though. With SBT-90.2 and Anduril, will this light exhibit the premature throttling of the output like on the Astrolux FT03S?
Considering I haven’t heard of it occurring on the K1 w/SBT90.2 that probably comes down to component placement/overall design and potentially also having a proper firmware version that is calibrated for that version of the light - something Hank has for every light AFAIK, and which Fireflies may have for some of their newer models.
I don’t experience that with my ft03s, wel when it does kick down I just double click it back up. Does get hot but that goes without saying. Looks like I need the K1 now, although I am too tempted at the copper ft03s… and this FF… crap…
Did Fireflies answer this? I'm curious if they actually sourced CULNM1.TG or if it's a typo and they really meant one of the other three combinations (CSLNM1.TG or CSLPM1.TG or CULPM1.TG). :X My understanding was that the CULNM1.TG BoostHXL 1mm was difficult to get a hold of. For example, Convoy offers many varieties of the Osram flat, but not the BoostHXL 1mm white.
I feel like most people don't realize how many versions there are of this LED.
My mistake, I updated my post to reflect Boost HL for the 1mm 4040 and not Boost HX. I’m curious if this (the 1mm 4040) could still out-throw the SBT90, for example. The mcd provided by Fireflies seems to indicate it can.
Great info in your post, but my eyes hurt from a day of staring at the screen so I will have to review it all tomorrow. Maybe my question is answered there with actual measurements / comparisons.
Great summary, thanks! I wonder if someone has already made such a summary for Osram‘s Ostar Projection Power LEDs like LE A P0MQ (amber) or LE R Q8WP (red) which are also being used for flashlights.
