Awesome to see more and more posts of interested members. :THUMBS-UP: :BEER: I hope to receiving some good news from Sofirn anytime soon.
For now, SP10R seems to be in its final stage of development, so the odds look quite good that we will not have to wait for too long anymore. :-)

Also I guess I’m too late but I have a case where IMO strobe could be beneficial from a red color: warning light! Suppose your car breaks down/you’re working on the side of the road. If the red flashlight could blink with a period of 1-3 sec it could warn upcoming drivers!
Or you could just turn on the 4-ways…

But I was trying to imply a red flashlight could ─ because of its color ─ be used as a small roadside warning light, the car was just a quick example I came up with. The times such a feature could be useful are very limited though, so it certainly is no requirement for me, just a nice-to-have 
Strobe is a bit agressive for a warning light, might be better to have adjustable “blinkies” like with Anduril. Red rear light for bicycles is another example that pleads for blinkies.
I’m currently using a FW3A with a red filter, flashlight pointed down to the road to illuminate the bicycle frame to be more visible at intersections. The main downside is that the red filter cuts down quite a lot of light (wasted runtime).
Yes exactly I was thinking about “blinkies”, not strobe, my bad! A bit higher I mentioned a period of 1-3 seconds. If this could be configured like Anduril that would be amazing! I certainly won’t ever need SOS/strobes on a red light, but a beacon is the only “blinking” mode that could be useful IMO
Not on a deep-red light, though.
It’s nowhere near as visible as a more orangey red (“Portland orange”, “traffic-red”), so the purpose of the light (red-light stimulation, not ruining night-vision, etc.) is counter to the idea of bright and visible, like for a warning-beacon.
It’s like using a MT-09R to roast marshmallows. It can be done, but it’s hardly the most efficient way to do it.

There is a use case for a strobe as some publications show better results with pulses in the 1-10 Hz range (50% duty cycle is a common value), but the specific frequencies used need a deeper reading.
I’m given to understand that part of this project was ostensibly to have a light with a deep-red/photo-red/far-red emitter, vs The Usual Red, for the above reasons.
So… gotta stick with the spirit of the project.
And sometimes simplicity is best. Eg, fairly recently (ie, this past year) I got a few AAA lights: Thrunite, Glaree, Skilhunt, Oilight, etc. Most have multiple modes, except the Skilhunt.
Guess what? The one I use the most is the Skilhunt. When I just need Some Light, it’s right there, 100lemons worth, and it’s on and off.
If I want half-a-lemon worth of light, I can always grab one of my other lights off the table, then ramp up or whatever as needed.
I suppose someone might want a photo-red candle or sunset or strobe and also want Andouille in a light with that emitter to get it, but WHY??
Important update [10/23/2020]:
Sofirn informed me they will work on a new AA flashlight design, replacing the SP10S design. Consequently, SP10R will be shifted onto the new AA schedule.
Due to large-scale launches of other new models, SP10R will need to be postponed until further notice. Please stay tuned for any future updates.

I just received a Kdlitker P60 host with a 660mn triple P60 drop-in. It has 4 levels (moonlight/very low, low, medium, and high), and a hidden (double-click) 8hz strobe. It’s listed as 800 lumens, and though I have no way to measure sure how accurate it is, the output appears bright enough to be in the neighborhood. 620mn and 730mn are also available, as well as blue, green, and amber. As well as a wide variety of Cree, Nichia, and Luminus white in various tints. KDLITKER Photo Red 660nm

As is common with many phone cameras, the night vid is a bit dimmer than in real world. For reference, the porch light is a 60 watt equivalent LED bulb.
