It looks like a T2 takes a 17mm driver as well? If I put in one of those two drivers I suggested into a T2, I’d be going to all 14500, and it would work fine, correct? And the T2 takes a 16mm DTP MCPCB fine?
Re:219b in a T2 with a FET driver (as I’m planning), so you think my Keeppower 14500 1000mAh puts out just too much at 4A continuous to not fry the emitter? Perhaps I should get a Vapcell 3A?
Nop, T2 uses smaller MCPCB.
There is an edge in the top of the shelf, so it uses 14-15mm MCPCB.
Of course you can file the 16mm board to make it smaller.
And…it is also designed for 1mm thick boards.
Ok, rad. Thanks for the info. So I’d still be sanding down an MCPCB. Does my build make more sense for a T2 or E3? Or does it not matter? 17mm DrJones FET driver (or Mtn17-DDm), whatever DTP MCPCB I can make fit, 219b emitter, running off of 14500s.
Thanks for the info on this thread and the other, Mascaratum.
I think I’m going to go the Jaxman E3 mod route in order to not have to file down or modify a 16mm MCPCB as much. If I’m leaving it the same thickness and using an O-ring, what size should I get?
Hey again, everyone. I’m sitting here with my Jaxman E3 trying for the life of me to take off the bezel to get to the LED and driver. How did you open the head up and get to the LED? It seems like the bezel is either glued or really forced in there so tight I may never get it off…
Press the bezel against your hand (or a glove, something that helps with grip) and rotate the flashlight anti-clockwise! It shoud open that way, it didn’t take me much to open mine! :+1:
As far as I can tell, this one is not sold as host only. Also, as far as I can tell, this version was not copied by other brands/manufcaturers, unlike the previous version.
What kind of build are you planning?
These are very easy to disassemble. I had intended to mod mine but the more I used other lights I realized how good the E3 is and decided to leave it stock. I was a bit disappointed with the max output initially but later found out that some of my old eneloops weren’t providing enough power, once I got new batteries the issue is gone.
500 lumen (on a 14500)nichia 219 (90cri) on Amazon was the cheapest I could find @ $22. That is why I was looking for a empty host. I have one ordered. Probably save the nichia for something else, and scrap the driver.
I already have all new guts for what I am after, except for a smooth reflector. I will see how the o.p. one does, then it may be time to search online for a smooth one.
The H17Fx driver is double sided, how do you intend to fit it into the E3 host? There’s no pill to solder to. I believe the retaining ring is needed to make the negative connection.
I have an E3 and I’m going to swap the driver eventually, I was thinking only single sided drivers would work.
Hmm, I had not thought about that. I got it in my TG06s, a couple of them actually, without problems. Maybe the retaining rings are thinner on those. I will have to look at it. I got one now, but had not opened it yet.
