Another Olight Flash Sale? The Horror!

thanks, I do think it is cool to hear about a Ti light being available

for me the spammy part was not the sale link, it was the window that popped up asking me to enroll in link sharing to get a $10 discount

anyway… thanks for sharing info
and respect, for offering a direct link

that does not involve refferal or what some call “affiliated” links (people who get a comission for posting a link). thats OK too, if disclosed, I think…

end soap, I retract my spammy judgement

I just watched the OlightWorld video on utoob, and found out the i5T Ti has a clip that does not rotate around like the other i5T’s do. It is milled like the Baton series of lights are. So that it doesn’t allow the clip to rotate.
Wouldn’t that cause the clip to separate easier because it is not allowed to rotate around the light?

I’m not sure if I like that.

I’ll still buy two of them though. One to keep, and one to sell on fleabay, to pay for both of them, eventually.

No problem.
I didn’t think of the popup, upon arriving at the link.
But in either case, you were correct, it was sort of “spammy”.

The lantern looks hideous, like a generic led lantern with their logo and charging system slapped to it…

However i5T for $37 is pretty sweet.

The neat feature on the lantern is the swappable modules but I think it won’t appeal much to the BLF crowd when compared to the LT1

I agree the price is right
school me on the light

what do you like about the i5T, that would make you choose it over, for example, a similarly priced AA Tool Ti

I’d say they are very different lights!
i5T is 2 modes only, only uses AA alkalines/Ni-MH, forward clicky switch, cool white emitter, much more difficult to mod, eventually more resistant, heavier and longer, and eventually more efficient (not sure of this).

The Tool AA Ti is eventually more versatile, classy, modable/customizable, brighter (on 14500s).

:+1:

Big difference has to be the AA Tool Ti will never be worth much more if anything over its orig value and it drains the heck out of the 14500 battery with hideous vampire lighted tailcap.

Seems like Olight has the “Sneaker Resale” business model going with the limited edition stuff catering to resellers for the secondary market.
Not knocking it, just saying what is observed.

Like some of the product line but they really need to offer different tints.

well put
yes, I was amazed to find the upsale market for fancy metal olights on ebay

lights which have cool white LEDs, and are difficult or impossible to mod to High CRI

people go where they can make dollars, even if it makes no “sense”

pay hundreds of dollars for a light with low CRI
keep it in a box
and wait to resell it for enough to make a profit after Ebay and Paypal and the Post Office all take a commission…

I call it flipping… no judgement,
just an interesting way of being an entrepreneur in a changing world, without ever leaving the comfort of your home…

Marco Polo had to take a really long trip… now we just spend a few hours clicking… same game, buy low, sell higher

The i5T Ti, or Cu would have better resale value.
And the i5T has 300 lm on an alkaline, whereas the Tool AA has 220 lm on an alkaline.

If I buy two of the i5T Ti’s, I can sell one later and probably recoup my full purchase price of both lights.

The Tool AA Ti seems to have an issue with un-soldering it’s leads from the Driver PCB, when running in turbo mode, on a 14500. Tool AA Ti Review

Must be the fact that Ti doesn’t dissipate heat as well as Cu or Al?

Other than that, the Tool AA is a much better light.

You do a lot of not judging John

In the Technical details tab it says the i5T ti has 3 modes in level 1 and 1 mode in level 2.

Level 1

300~150~30

In level 2 it has 1 mode of 15.

No stobes or flashy’s.

25% off or saving 13$ is ok if you are seriously lusting after this light but the limited edition thing from olight is getting a bit old . Not to mention the never ending inability to mod and tint issues plaguing this companies lights . If they want more sales ..Stop making green tints and add high cri emitters. Make it in the cool colors < then call that a limited edition .

.

They’ve got some new Warrior X Pro color finishes that also have a NW emitter. Less output (2100 lumens and 500 meters of throw) but now I’m looking at my CW version on my desk like hmmmmmmmm……………

Oh my goodness...

That lantern looks really cheap, not at all they way Olight flashlights normally look like. Anyway, Olight seems spending godzillions of dollars for advertising. The way they kept spamming me multiple times every (!) week with newsletters, charity sales, limited sales, flash sales, clearance sales...(to be continued) can almost be considered as "assault and battery". }( I have finally come to the point to unsubscribe for good. :))

I agree with the others that selling old wine in new wineskins (and calling them "limited") is a typical marketing instrument that more and more people get tired of. :TIRED:

Hum, I guess they should put it otherwise, as they have 3 levels in mode 1 and 1 level in mode 2.
The 3 levels correspond to the stepdowns of the flashlight after prolonged use

So, the light techincally has 2 modes (low-high, as the original M1T and the i3T EOS) and if it is used on High for a while it will decrease luminosity from 300 to 150 and from 150 to 30.
I didn’t look for graphics on this, but I’m sure they’re out there to see how long the stepdowns will take

Thanks for your remark moderator007 :+1:

EDIT: here’s zeroair runtime graphic for the i5T EOS regular version: Olight i5T EOS Flashlight Review - ZeroAir Reviews

Despite the differences in measurements vs specs, it can be seen that High mode goes from 332lm to 261lm (in 3 minutes), to 163lm (during 138minutes), then to 33lm (during 157 minutes). At 4 minutes it seems to be around 160-170lm :+1:

How much do you think people will pay for these? I see CU versions sell for around 70-80 (were those on sale for 37$ too?)

I would think TI is less desirable. Still not sure of the allure my self…. Heavier, worse cooling, more expensive… for what? slightly different shade of silver?

When the copper iT5 CU hit the market earlier it the year, it was priced at $40, sans ‘bundle pricing,’ which bought the price down a bit.

I’m thinking of flipping my ‘still sealed’ iT5 CU and watched one go on EBay over the weekend, for $70+.

Chris

November 26, 2019 I purchased two Olight S2R Baton II Cu’s, on their Flash Sale, for $59.95 each. The cheapest now are selling for $175 on Ebay/Buy it Now(not Make an Offer). The seller has sold 7, and has 2 remaining. Some people are asking $299 for it.
Crazy.
