The new Jaxman E3 flashlight comes in the new year

Is there a lower discharge 14500 available? Or perhaps I should just commit to not using turbo or disengaging it on the UI…

If possible, turn off the turbo in UI.
Or maybe try this driver with 3 modes.

Cool. I’d probably just avoid turbo on the UI, since I’d be getting a better driver specifically for the UI.

Has anyone tried a single TIR lens on the E3 instead of the factory reflector?

Thanks for the info on this thread and the other, Mascaratum.

I think I’m going to go the Jaxman E3 mod route in order to not have to file down or modify a 16mm MCPCB as much. If I’m leaving it the same thickness and using an O-ring, what size should I get?

Do you have a link for the O-ring you used?

Hey again, everyone. I’m sitting here with my Jaxman E3 trying for the life of me to take off the bezel to get to the LED and driver. How did you open the head up and get to the LED? It seems like the bezel is either glued or really forced in there so tight I may never get it off…

Press the bezel against your hand (or a glove, something that helps with grip) and rotate the flashlight anti-clockwise! It shoud open that way, it didn’t take me much to open mine! :+1:

OK, I guess I’ll put down the hammer… :person_facepalming:

Finally got it open. Was very tight, or at least that’s what I’m telling you…

Thanks, as always, MascaratumB!

Back from the dead again.

Anybody know where to find these as a host?

I EDC a TG06S that I built, and I am thinking this may be an upgrade as far as the host.

As far as I can tell, this one is not sold as host only. Also, as far as I can tell, this version was not copied by other brands/manufcaturers, unlike the previous version.

The full light can be bought here, at Jaxman’s store: Page Not Found - Aliexpress.com

What kind of build are you planning?
These are very easy to disassemble. I had intended to mod mine but the more I used other lights I realized how good the E3 is and decided to leave it stock. I was a bit disappointed with the max output initially but later found out that some of my old eneloops weren’t providing enough power, once I got new batteries the issue is gone.

Dr.Jones H17Fx driver, 4k SST-20, and probably order a new 14500 Vapcell H1.

Just an updated version of my TG06S EDC.
sst-20 vs de-domed xp-g2
Vapcell H1 vs Windyfire 14500
same modes
pretty stainless bezel

Group 1 (EDC/work settings) = ~150Lm, turbo, and DT for strobe
Group 2 (camping/hiking) = ~2Lm, 30ish Lm, 100-150ish and DT for turbo

Is there still a 350-lumen version (or whatever the highest lumen version is)?

If so, what is the emitter and the CRI, please?

500 lumen (on a 14500)nichia 219 (90cri) on Amazon was the cheapest I could find @ $22. That is why I was looking for a empty host. I have one ordered. Probably save the nichia for something else, and scrap the driver.

I already have all new guts for what I am after, except for a smooth reflector. I will see how the o.p. one does, then it may be time to search online for a smooth one.

The H17Fx driver is double sided, how do you intend to fit it into the E3 host? There’s no pill to solder to. I believe the retaining ring is needed to make the negative connection.

I have an E3 and I’m going to swap the driver eventually, I was thinking only single sided drivers would work.

Hmm, I had not thought about that. I got it in my TG06s, a couple of them actually, without problems. Maybe the retaining rings are thinner on those. I will have to look at it. I got one now, but had not opened it yet.

As soon as I pulled the driver ring I remembered how they fit. Stepped retaining ring. I took a picture, but cant post it at the moment.

I think the 360 lumens rating is on a 14500 battery, using AA batteries high is most likely around 160 lumens on my 219C 4000K.

That sounds like a great upgrade. You could probably just swap the driver, the 219C emitters from Jaxman have very nice tint.
Initially I wanted to mod mine, changing the emitter and driver but for my use of this light, the more I used it the more I liked it and decided to leave it stock as most of the time I only use it at moonlight or medium, but I do wish it had a turbo mode with something around 250-300 lumens for those rare occasions when I need the extra output.

The 219C will probably go in something else, I want a fairly spot beam in this light. I liked the fairly spot type beam I got from the smooth reflector (in TG06s) and de-domed XP-G2.

I was hoping for similar with the sst-20 and the smooth reflector (it interchanges w/TG06s, almost perfectly), but it is just a bit more floody than I would like.
Hopefully shaving it and maybe tuning the reflector spacing a bit, will get back to a bit tighter pattern more like the dd xp-g2 has in the tg06s.

Love the host, not sure I am all to impressed with the sst-20 so far.
CRI is good, but the shift from warm at lower power to a bit cool at higher powers is more than I expected.
