[Review] Lumintop X9L (1x21700, SBT90.2, tail e-switch, Anduril)

This was a really fun little light to use. It has a beam similar to the Dobermann, which has long been my favorite jacket carry light - lots of throw, but a wide enough beam to use for waking along. This will definitely make it into my rotation now that the weather is cooling down.

Thanks for the review! So it only regulates up to 300 lumens? :weary:

According to this review that tested the output in different modes, the light seems to be able to regulate much higher than that.

I wonder why are the curves so different.

This looks like a fun light, thanks for the review!

I actually recorded temp with my runtimes, and I believe I checked this same level. Let me get back to you.

No beam shots?

Looks like the curve isn't all that different. Here's step 6 of 7 thrown together:

There's a bit more of a step down, but nothing drastic - it's just that step 6 only starts at 600 lumens, whereas most of the modes I included in my charts are a bit higher. I've added the same graph for turbo in the review if you're interested. In both cases, the thermal regulation is keeping the temps below about 38C (probably set to 40C).

I was out for half a year with flashlights (in summer season I swich my interest to MTB biking  and now I found out this. Fell in love since I use a lot a pocket thrower.
So far my most used is Astrolux EC01 with SST-40 shaved off. Very compact and powerfult to its size.

I use the light in company with a headlamp, so I light it on just for a minute to take a wider look around or when something catches my eye. High power for short time is something that suits me well.
Now, when I found out this beauty I must admit I’m hesitating due to price. We all know alternatives for around 100-120 bucks.

So I’d happy to hear a user’s opinion, is it really worth the price? I mean is there really huge leap comparing to (say) M21C with SST-40 driven up to 7A? Or other commonly used flashlight?

The X9L ticks all my wish boxes, except for the price. However, before I spend half of my salary (kidding), I’d rather know if it’s worth it.
Are there any pictures in company with other flashlight’s beams?

I see. I didn’t realize step 6/7 is that low in lumen output. I’m disappointed how low the regulated output is. If Lumintop uses the Loneocean FW3x driver that is sold on Neal’s site, this would be a much more interesting light.

Questions like this are always impossible to really answer because I don’t know your financial situation or needs. If you want a great UI, exotic emitter, huge turbo output, and tiny size, this light has that. If you want the most cost effective light with decent throw, most lights on the market (this one included) don’t look good next to a C8+ - but most people want more than the cheapest usable thing. How much the extra features are worth is a question I can’t answer.

Thanks BME, I’m not looking for most economic solution, I’m looking for something extraordinary of exceptional performance. I’ve had like… don’t know 200 flashlights? Another 200 I’ve made to earn some side money. My flashlight hobby is self funding… I buy them and sell, since I’m addicted to checking new models :).
But his one seems to be a worthy successor of good old EC01.

Yeah, my financial situation is not bad anyway  I’m not gonna be starving due to purchase of X9L. OK, I really can afford it. But I like to spend my money wise, so I’m just trying to find justification for this purchase.

Thanks for the informative review, bmengineer!

I’d like to ask if you can check which Anduril firmware version does the light come in?
If 15 clicks works on this light, then the firmware version date.
In case it does not have the version check (earlier firmware), could you check it it has the 13H (factory reset) function?
