Charger with LCD screen or LED indicator?

Take budget into consideration firstly, some of you may choose a cost-effective charger with simple LED indicator. This design allows you to monitor the charging progress via different indicator colors. It’s economical and also easy to handle.

For more advanced charger, it utilizes a LCD screen to show batteries’ real time charging status and monitor the charging progress safely. Apperently, the price of this charger is relatively higher. But more detailed info you can get from the screen, such as charging current, battery voltage, battery charged capacity and battery type. And this kind of charger can help you to save time and keep charging more safe. For example, when reverse polarity happens, the screen will show “Err” immediately to remind us insert the battery correctly. “Null” means a bad battery that can’t be activated or charger short circuit happens.

Charger with smart LCD screen, desireable one, yes. While it’s not a necessity when you more care about cost or other factors. So which one do you prefer?

I prefer an LCD that displays an accurate voltage reading and the charging current. E.g. VP2

The ability to select the charging current is useful for smaller 10440, 14500, 18350 cells. Some chargers automatically select and use an inappropriate charging current for small cells (e.g. 1A).

USB-C to USB-C input for a battery charger would be good. Micro USB is becoming less popular with USB-C. I only have a Micro USB cable to support old power banks and chargers. Most of my devices now use USB-C.

My next dedicated charger would be a Type C - Type C compatible with an LCD displaying voltage and current, and with a button so I can select the charge current (0.25A, 0.5A, 1A, 2A). I’d prefer a single cell charger with this functionality for taking with me during travelling, and maybe a four cell charger for at home.

I like LCD’s on chargers so I can monitor voltages, current, time, mAh accumulation, etc.

For features, I agree that USB C with PD in/out would be nice. Functions I’d like to see individual displays for each bay with current, mAh, voltage, charge time. Analyzing is nice too, and please do a dedicated discharge function with 1A for each bay.

both. good build quality, charges well, as in at least 2A per slot even when all slots are filled. the LCD is a bonus, but charging is the most important. given the same charger, then you can have 1 simple version with LED lights ,and 1 analyzer version with LCD display.

I would pay dearly for a charger with the functionality of the MC3000 but with a very intuitive touch screen user interface.

Definitely LCD - need to see charging current, current charged/discharged, and voltage.

This. I’ve been searching for new 2 and 4 cell Li-ion/NiMH chargers and was shocked to find they don’t exist yet. Even recent releases are using obsolete micro USB. Crazy.

I'd prefer a charger that does only one type of battery, in my case Lion with an LCD screen, but one that has exact digital voltage readout instead of the VC4 which has an arrow in a half circle pointing to a number that is not so precise

If you don’t mind only 2 cells, the XTAR ST2 seems to fit what you’re looking for?

LCD charger of course. And preferably Type-C interface.

Nice little charger but price seems a little unrealistically high for what you get.
