The EDC01 is much less brighter than any of the lights suggested before and OP wants a bright light!
Here’s a perspective of some small lights:
Left to Right:
RovyVon Aurora A5
Nitecore TIP 2017
FW3A (18350)
Emisar D4 (18350)
Acebeam TK16 (16340)
RovyVon Aurora A23
I’ll go back to the suggestion I did before:
RovyVon Aurora: A1X, A3 Pro, A5X, A7X, A8X : battery is 330mAh, max Lumens 650 (with XP-G3; with Nichia 219C will be lower)
The other “A#” versions, which are slightly smaller in length (as seen here https://www.rovyvon.com/), will have 260mAh and ~500Lumens (less with Nichia).
My opinion, but if you need the keychain light for a continuous use, a bright but small flashlight won’t probably be the best option. But in case you need it for short bursts, instant illumination for short periods, any of the above will suit you.
Not sure what size you are willing to consider as a keychain light. Powerful and keychain usually don’t go together. It is not a good idea to hang a lot of weight on your ignition switch. That said the largest size I would call a keychain light would be a very small AA or a AAA. Also the 16340 lights are small enough for hanging on a keychain. Jetbeam 1Mk or a Wowtac W1 are capable of 500 lumens or so.
I don’t have that one specifically, but I have the A5R and the A8U that are also made of Polyamide.
The material is scratch resistant and lightweight. I carry mine A5R in the keychain, never had an issue with it regaring body construction (nor functioning as well).
I would say that the major difference between the A1Z and the A3x is mostly weight and aesthetics (colour, body shine). Of course, if a truck runs over the A1X and the A3X there may be different results, eventually
Other than that, functioning is similar.
I was actually looking at their line-up seeing if I could justify getting more one or two of those smaller lights :innocent:
The A1X looks really cool. The polyamide makes it lighter weight which is what I would want for a keychain light. A little too much for me since I’m still happy with my Nitecore Tube (45 lumens) that I got 5 years ago. 650 lumens from such a tiny thing is crazy!
I also have a Nitcore Tube in my “office’s” keychain, where I don’t need flashlights so often. But…let me tease you just a bit
3 grams more, per more than 10x output (that is the “old”A8U version)
At Pilotboy, let us know when you got it , if you like or not
That arrived rather quickly, assuming it was ordered via one of the Chinese outlets and not Amazon.
I went with the A28U with the Cree XP-L HD, if you don’t mind the very cool output it’s a veritable pocket rocket, the UV and side light is also handy.
Ye ordered it from banggood pretty fast delivery. I was thinking of the a28u or the a23 but I decided it was to big for my keychain. Also does the clear plastic scratch?
