[Review] Wuben H1 headlamp :: High CRI + Red

I wish I hadn't just spent $30 on a Wowtac A2S. I would have picked the H1 instead. The A2S needs some DC-Fix to make the beam more my preference for a headlamp. The H1 not only has that full flood capability I like, but regulation, a brighter main light and a red light too!

Thanks for the review.

Just gift the Wowtac to someone this Christmas and get yourself an H1

i need to make more friends like u

I already bought two Wowtac A2 headlamps and two W1 EDC lights to give to as gifts to some non-flashlight people.

hey gchart, i just got a sp40 from amazon to try it out, and i realized i needed the lamp to be able to rotate easily, as in a built in functionality to rotate, not manually force the rotate. cuz the sp40 is strapped by 2 rubber rings, and if i want it at a different angle, i have to forcibly twist the light past where i want it, due to the give that rubber rings have, then let it turn back a little bit by itself to get it where i want it. i dont like this mechanism at all, and by the looks of it, wuben has the same design?

A ton of headlamps are the same way, including the Wuben H1. The only one that I’ve had be different was the D10/D25 headlamp which uses a hard plastic bracket.

wait which brand? i been seeing a lot of d10 and d25 recently

There are a bunch of brands of the same white-label headlamp. Commonly going by Boruit, but many others. D10 being the single emitter, D25 being dual emitter. Sofirn has their D25S, which is a customized version of it.

Seems quite similar to the excellent Nitecore HC65.

Part of the problem here is that the headband Sofirn included is a bit tight for an 18650 light - I found it more suitable for the diameter of an AA body tube.
It won’t change the elastic properties of the rings, but using a headband for a 24mm light (loads of cheap options on AliExpress) makes adjusting the light a lot easier.

hm…that could be it, cuz i noticed when i twist the light to position it, im pulling on the rubber quite a bit, and it feels like sooner or later, the joint where the ring is attached to the backboard will start to give out and eventually rip.

Ahh… yeah. That’s not a problem with the Wuben. The rings on the H1’s headband are less “rubbery” and it doesn’t twist back on you when you rotate it. It seems to stay right where you put it.

really! so is it like a hard rubber thats not very elastic? or is it just a bit loose?

Certainly not loose. It’s just that as far as the rubber/silicone material goes, it seems more stiff. Kinda hard to describe, but I haven’t notice any issues with bounce-back when rotating it.

hmmm, maybe i should order one to try it out

Yes

wait i forget, do u have one? can you confirm the angle rotation mechanism?

Allthough it’s politically incorrect: Nope, not in this matter.

Similarly strict, I reject CW lights for outdoor sports  .

Still know nothing about this LED. It’s a budget LED, right?

Thanks for your zoom in picture. Yeah, it seems to be none of solutions I’m familiar with. It’s $25 for preorder… very tempting….

Price-wise, you’d probably consider it “budget” but I wouldn’t take that to mean it’s bad LED. Lumen output seems to rank up there with an XP-L or XP-L2 with a forward voltage even lower than the XP-L2.
