That’s a different light, this is just modifying a current one.
Besides, AA/14500 headlamps pale in comparison to an 18650 for run time.

I need more interest to pull trigger.
Please know that I can only offer SST20 white led in 6500K / 4000K HCRI / 2700K HCRI + SST20DR 660nm,no other option of leds or batteries.
We need to use the D25 host.
I’m in for a couple. I’m sure some friends would be too.
why 660nm? as far as seeing things at night in red lighting with human eyes, 620-630nm is superior.
I’m interested for sure.
Intrested
I would get 2700 and 4000
I’m definitely in for either 4000K or 2700K, provided we’re looking at 90+ CRI and a moonlight really that low.
In for a couple
Awesome, I am interested in 4 pieces
Barry, why don’t you rename the thread to
Awesome advice!

Interested.
The SP40 is quite throwy. I’d suggest to have a more floody headlamp option… so if someone is interested in a ‘more throwy’ headlamp, then the SP40 can be suggested, if he likes a more floody (for close-up use), then this headlamp can be used)

I think SP40 has a balance between throw and flood. We tried LH351D on SP40 but beam is not great in 5000K, maybe SP40 LH351D 4000K is a good option, if people want this.

I will take a few
I’m interested in at least a couple! (Just in case my initial response was ambiguous.)
This seems like a great inexpensive camping light for gifting, and I’d really like to see this project happen!
Interested 1-2

Hi Barry. I swapped LH351D 5000k into my SP40 even though I liked 4000k stock.
What was wrong with the beam? I can take some beamshots without dc-fix if needed.
It will be great if you share the beam picture. Engineer told SP40 with LH351D 5000K ’s beam is greenish.
