Review: SunLike 50D SOL COB E27 LED bulb (4000K) (CRI 99)

Measurements:

  • Power consumption: 51.1W
  • Heatsink temperature after 1 hour: 71.5 Celsius
  • LED emitter surface temperature after 1 hour: 100.2 Celsius
  • Ambient temp: 23.6 Celsius
  • Dimensions: width 119mm /// height 174mm (without diffuser) /// height 230mm (with diffuser)
  • Weight: 638.6g
  • 100% flicker free
  • Easily removable diffuser (you can screw it off)
  • Lumens: 4343lm (not super accurate measurement)

Opinions:

  • Build quality is great
  • Perfect tint and color rendering (source)
  • This bulb can work with a dimmer but I donā€™t have one so I canā€™t test it
  • Immensely bright light bulb. Constant 4000 lumens is no joke.
  • This bulb would be nice for people who suffer from seasonal affective disorder. This bulb honestly boosts my focus and mood a little bit during the dark winter days here in Finland.

Overall I give this bulb a 10/10 rating.

(My bulb configuration when I bought it: voltage: AC220V /// spectrum: 4000K SOL /// small diffuser: leave big one /// bigger radiator: 120mm without fan /// reflector: 50mm /// add brightness for SOL: 200% LEDs /// socket: E27)

:face_with_monocle:

also 120mm body can be bigger

also there is 125mm body, but now it is impossible for me to find where to buy it

it is more cold, lighter weight and more beauty than 120mm body

thanks for review! :+1: I will do some discount with your next order. Too much unfinished ordersā€¦. I need to workā€¦

s. AD ā€” Active (cooling) Dimmable, so, it is 50D (48-50 real watts when it is already hot)

pps. Reflector for 4pcs 13w leds I created by myself, just cut it from 2pcs 36mm reflectors

here was diy too

Wow that thing is huge. But pretty cool. Do they come in bayonet fitting?

you mean B22?

Yep thatā€™s the one.

YES

This thing is so impressive. I want one but am not sure about suitable light fixture styles. Any recommendations for fixture styles that would suit this beast?

Yea I was wondering what the ā€œAā€ stands for. The title of this review has been corrected.

This bulb surely needs a big light fixture! A massive floor lamp like this might work nicely with this bulb. I recommend doing a ceiling bounce with a 50W bulb.

I donā€™t recommend fixtures like this unless you have a dimmer. 50W LED bulb without some kind of light diffusing solution would be unpleasant to look at.

I created my ceiling light bounce fixture from this IKEA ceiling lamp. Works perfectly in my living room:

Extra tip: there are inexpensive E27 (and other socket types) extender adapters available on Ebay and AliExpress so you can fit a large bulb like this on some fixtures that would not allow it otherwise. (like this )

Well E27 light bulbs can be big, no joke.

For a while Iā€™ve had a project on my mind to do an overkill desk lamp that would double as semi-portable light as well.
Some flexible base, a dimmer (a MUST), the biggest and baddest SunLike bulb with a 60 degree lens.
I lack time for it, but so far I mainly fail to find a really sturdy base.

I think that with E40 it will seems better :stuck_out_tongue:

$%^& chinese plastic =(

That lamp is very nice. Quite far from what Iā€™ve had on my mind (Diffuser + reflector rather than lens, not as overpowered, mounted rather than standalone) but it is still one of the most interesting lamps Iā€™ve seen for sale.

From different factories, even externally, plastic differs in structure, which is stronger can understand only with the passage of time.

Nice review Taskulamppu! This sure is an impressive bulb.

@Sunlike good fortune with your small business, I love your DIY experimentation. I think that you found a niche with these high power high CRI bulbs that is not covered yet by the big manufacturers.

BTW, looking after E40 bases I found an E40 bulbā€¦

100W, CRI95min (9698 in actual test), 11 000lm. And lens.
Even bigger overkillā€¦aside from the fact that sometimes enough is enough, itā€™s only 5000K, far too cold for me.
They offer CRI85 bulbs up to 160W and just under 22 000lm.

SunLike, you show several different radiators for the largest bulbs. I see how Taskulamppu has measure the bulb weight but Iā€™m not sure if that measurement is relevant to the bulbs that you sell now.

Iā€™d like to buy SunLike50AD with a lens and I have a few questions.

What is the weight with the passive and active radiators?

Do you have any sound pressure level measurement of the active bulb? I read that you describe it as silent but I would welcome so hard data to be able to decide whether itā€™s silent enough for me.

How will doubling the number of COBs affect the beam of the variant with a lens?

50AD āŒ€95mm is 435g, noise like from laptop

but it is really hard to build it (for me), so I recomend 50D with āŒ€120mm

43mm lens can be used with 25w cob led or with 4pcs 6-10w cob leds
