Coronavirus **personal experiences** thread

Good luck in your (hopefully) full recovery, Coscar!

Seems to me that, if you’re going to compare cancer death numbers and Covid-19 death numbers this year, you can’t just compare the number of deaths from each that were recorded this year. Many of the cancer deaths this year occurred in individuals who contracted cancer in a previous year, while virtually all of the Covid-19 deaths in the USA have occurred in the same year that the virus was contracted (and death occurred much faster after the onset of illness or diagnosis than with cancer). After controlling for that difference, the death numbers from Covid-19 this year can be seen in a different light than simply saying they are “less than 1/3” the numbers for cancer this year.

Yup, and cancer isn't contagious.

Plus, the number of cancer deaths isn't skyrocketing in many areas like COVID-19 deaths are.

(Of course the only reason to compare the number of cancer deaths to COVID-19 deaths is to downplay COVID-19, and some people make that their mission in life. People without lives, that is.)

I really appreciate all of your well wishes…… probably more than you realize. I will try to update with any progress, but I have a feeling it could be slow from what my pulmanologist tells me. It seems it is different for everyone and I was very lucky to have survived. I remember wanting so bad to just give up but at this point Im glad I didnt. That being said, Im not sure I can adjust to my current situation if it does not at least slowly improve. Time will tell I guess. I dont believe in prayer but your encouragement means alot. Thank you   :+1:

I think you’re correct on all points. The cancer death rate has been declining in the USA since the early 1990’s.

Coscar, I hope you get well soon! Take care :+1:

Hey Coscar, can I ask if this is because the COVID did a number on your joints, or because your lungs aren’t giving you enough air to walk?

A cold spell that moved through the area, driving people indoors.

Hi Coscar,
glad to see you made it through and good luck with the recovery.

You probably couldnt be shagged I bet but if you could please, every now and then just drop in here and
let us know how you’re getting on.

Hang in there

Coscar, good to have you back, Scary experience. Seem like you have a road
ahead,

I don’t want to pry too much but beside wearing masks are there any lifestyle changes to recommend?

Were you able to have any family with you in the hospital? the staff in the hospital treat you well or they just did the bare minimum?

get well soon!

Coscar, very sorry to hear, but thank you for sharing. We all wish you the best, and hope you continue on to a full recovery.

Nothing will work except herd immunity.

Herd immunity would happen faster if more people took the vaccine, with a lot fewer people dying. It isn’t impossible.

I won’t be taking any vaccine. No siree

So give ’em fake vaccines?

It’s a very aggressive virus, very efficient at spreading.

EXCERPT

Emphasis added

Hi everyone, posting vaccine related news here is fine, but please try to reserve your personal opinions. Prior conversations about the pro/anti-vaccine controversy have not ended up well here. Thanks a lot.

Surely the whole concept of “herd immunity” went out the window when it was found that any so called “immunity” is very short lived! I personally know 2 people (health care workers) that have had covid Twice! the second time around is actually quite bad too, Much worse than the first :frowning:
