Where's ChicagoX when you need him? :glasses:
It probably was a surefire that cost $300. But, do you guys realize how expensive shipping to our military in the middle east is? From what I remember, it costs $18 to transport a $4 gallon of gas during peace to Iraq. Costs $42 a gallon to send it further in. And can cost around $600 to send it in to a hostile environment...IT'S RIDICULOUSLY EXPENSIVE! Cost several hundred thousand dollars to transport a humvee to iraq also...
So, that may be the reason the flashlight was so expensive

I think that is the answer. It really is a $300 flashlight, but it cost $500 to ship it to the country in question. That makes it an $800 light!!
fishinfool:He's coming here on vacation in June so it will be interesting what he brings us as gifts. I always tell him not to bother but he never listens. I raised him so maybe that's why he buys me nice gifts. Last year he got me a 42" sony lcd tv and blueray player. I guess you could say that I raised him well..

I'm past wondering what the 800 flashlight is. Now I'm wondering how I can sell some flashlights to the military :-P
NightCrawl:@cehoward: Dont you do that again. I thought someone stole your flashlights! Tho I wondered why someone should steal your lights and not your bikes.. ^^
Funny article btw... 2 million total, 800$ flashlights. I wouldnt even have mentioned them.
You got me there!! :D I am at work now, and just mounted my two Keygos Ke-5s on my 89 Centurion Ironman Master. And believe you me, I'd be one hot cookie if anybody stole any of that. That goes for the lights and/or the bike. BTW, everything stays close to me. I am in my cube typing this and my bike is about 3 feet away.. Life is dam sweet!!
On the $800 lights, I was just curious because of the high price. I dunno!!
Wait, you are 70+, still working, do a lot of sports and turn into the black hulk when someone puts hands on your bikes? Dayum you remind me of my grandpa! :P

Temptation with all the spiffy toys.
These are $400 each.

400 dollar for a 50-lumen flashlight, that is 8 dollar per lumen...
It seems just a bit overpriced to me.

In all, $1.8 million worth of equipment has been recovered as a result of the investigation. Officials said that in addition to the assault rifles and night vision goggles, $800 flashlights were recovered as a result of the probe.
It says, $800 flashlights were recovered. Sounds to me like the flashlights were $800 each, not totalling $800. Doesn't say how many though, but at almost a grand a pop, it would seem like something worth putting up along with NGVs and rifles.
