Sofirn SC31 PRO, New Anduril Flashlight

The turbo is just for short bursts, indeed. A flashlight of this size cannot handle the heat.

Just look at runtime graphs for other lightweight flashlights with too much power, for example the D4V2, even in Muggle mode:

Room temp runtimes without the light being held in hand are worse case scenarios. If usage is for a minute or two, then you could probably get away with 500-1000 lumens held in hand. Your hand acts as a thermal bridge to pull heat away.

Zebra flashlights are probably the best at thermal management, in the mechanical design, driver design, and firmware. Our firmware, like Anduril or Anduril2, is general purpose for lots of designs and has limitations based on the driver, LED's, mech design, etc. Zebra probably has about the best runtime graphs of all compact flashlights, meaning highest obtainable output over time.

Would like to see more run time graphs as well. However, I know my SC31 Pro is not a 250 lumen light with a 2000 lumen burst! Lots of stuff going on here and lots I am not certain about. However, last night I put said light into top of ramp an stood it on the top of the fridge while I proceeded to do dishes and clean the kitchen. I know thermal ramps can be subtle and it can be difficult to judge lumen by eye. There is no way that I was cleaning the kitchen on only 250 lumen.

Wish I had the equipment to do the measurements. Mine calibrated the temp pretty accurate and I think the thermal management is fantastic. My rough guess is that this light will do somewhere over 500 lumen till the battery goes. I think it does very well indeed for the size of the light. It shouldn’t throw 100+ meters either but I am certain that it does.

According to gchart’s test the pro held around 300-400 lumens for like 3 hours [Review] Sofirn SC31 Pro - now with Anduril & USB-C
. Definitely not as bad as my first impression, and considering all the other features this light has to offer, I may have one coming my way soon.

Of course better regulation could be had even in that size of tube light, like with the sp31 v2.0 or sp32a, which are basically the same size (in diameter) as the sc31 pro, but they can sustain over 500 lm for a few hours. Of course they are totally different drivers and don’t have the other features like usb-c, Anduril, so there’s always trade-offs.

Yep, gchart's chart looks about right: https://budgetlightforum.com/t/-/63701

Thermal calibration is the trick

Good day blf as a newbie I would like to ask some help how to access the led button to correct the position of led button lights my flashlight is sofirn sc31 pro I just bought recently. I had only few tools a circlip plier and few precision screwdriver.thank u so much.
If not too much a detailed instruction w/ picture pls once again thank u.

Unscrew the bezel around the switch, pull out the cover.

It’s done.
Thank u sammy.

Anyone have both the 6500 and 5000 temperature sc31pro? I already have the 5000k version. Would the 6500k increase throw and lumen much? And is it really cold or neutral white?

Anyone know if the 5000k version is available from a dealer in USA?

amazon only seems to have the 6500k

Yep, got both and have used them side x side several times. I would not buy the 5k (or 4K version of the IF25a) for outdoor use where I live.

If you have woods out back the lower tints are probably preferred. But here in Kansas I need to see out there a ways… and I personally felt the 5k tint just didn’t get out there like the 6.5k. On turbo both threw nicely, but the 6.5 was clearly the better thrower.

AND, as this light gets SO hot (SO quickly), I set my ramp limit to about 70% on the SC31 Pro 6.5k and I’m happy with it (also using a 50g at 10A/5000mAhs so it doesn’t overheat so fast when I do run turbo- rarely).

The beam tint of the 6.5 is a real winner too- NO blue and little yellow. I nice white beam at closer to maybe 6k (guess). Compared to my SP33V3’s 6.5k color (on the white wall), I can easily see a warmer beam from the SC31 Pro (which matches the IF25a’s beam color too. Both have great tints).

I got the “6500K”, and trust me on this, unless it’s mislabeled, it’s nice. There’s even a yellowish hint in the hotspot, so all the blue must go into the spill, but there’s nothing objectionable in that at all. A little fried-eggy, but not bad at all.

My 5700k SP10B seems bluer than my SC31pros.

Thanks! I think I will get the 6500k sc31pro as my 5000k sc31pro high doesn’t seems as bright or as throwy as even my SP32AV2

Tendou, The SP32A has a slightly deeper reflector while the cooler temp of the SC31 pro 6500K is visible a little further than the 5000K but have the same reflector.

In my signature items, there's a link where I modified an sp32A v.1 with an SST40, 5000K. The driver has higher amp draw than the SP32A v.2 so I really fought and held off for a sale to buy an SC31 pro because I already had a super badbutt EDC. Anduril had a slight influence in my decision to buy the SC31. ;)

Yep… the Anduril UI, and USB C charging is a seller for sure ;). I have to be careful to who I give an SP22aV2 to. It’s a nice UI for someone willing to play with it long enough to learn it, like Anduril.

But the extra maintenance of charging batteries outside of the light has been a challenge for some people (like my mother-in-law, the perfect muggle tester for me). She didn’t touch her SP10 after the battery died. But she can plug her (new) SC31 Pro into her USB charge station NEXT to her phone… no problem.

Nice modification. I’m selling my 5000k and getting the 6500k. Sc31pro stills a good light

Sorry to ask you again. I read your post and understand that for if25a the 4000k really lost much the throw and brightness compared to 6000k version.

But for31pro, how much did you think the throw and brightness differ between the colour temperature when both are on high and both are on turbo?
Thanks again.

You bought the 5000k? How badass it was compared to your sp32av2?

Tendou, not the 5000K SC31. I just modified an older SP32A v1.

I bought a champagne v2 for the wife but I like v1, better.

Ah, I understand. The original sp31v2 without modification already do have greater power than the v2. How do you think the sc31pro 5000k stacks to those sp32av2 and v1?
