What's going on with Zebralight?

A few weeks ago I ordered a SC64w HI which was listed as backordered on the website but it shipped that same day.

Yes , that was the normal, everything now is a month wait. I asked if any sc64 le were available when my order shipped and they said it would take a month to get. They are having issues getting supplies from China.

Received mine today , looks good. The color is a lighter chalkier grey than my sc64, don’t recall if I have old photos to compare when it was new. Wonder if it got polished in my pocket over the year lol. I didn’t realize the headlamps aren’t marked in anyway telling you what they are, that’s annoying.

It should be worth the wait. I have the SC64c LE with Samsung LH351D emitter & it’s an excellent flashlight. I find the tint warmth fairly similar to the Nichia 219C 4000k (on an FW3A). The SC64 form factor is excellent. It’s pretty much the same length as an FW3A while having a slightly more narrow diameter.

Well ZL has answered my questions lately the same day, that’s improved. I found the euro site had a new shipment in and showed the 64 le in stock. So I ordered it today lol. If I like it as a second ZL edc I’ll keep it. If not I will put it up for sale.

The discussion at CPF is that Zebralight is showing signs of terminating its business.

Like Sunwayman, ShiningBeam and even EagleTac, it is the way with the world. As all things thrive, so shall they die.

That’s some zen shit, for you all.

Chris

Hopefully just false speculation. With Covid, many offices aren’t needed anymore, people work from home. Zebralight stays well below the radar and their 10 year old lights are still relevant today. They don’t need to release a new light every few months. Its totally possible the speculation may be true, but I have faith it’s not the case. Maybe it’s just wishful thinking!

Official site: “Starting Jan 1, 2021, we will accept orders from U.S. customers only.”

That’s very disappointing, I hope Nkon will still carry them.

Wow I had not seen that. I thought the flashlight market was doing decently. Communication has never been their strong suit.

I’ve just looked, and I think you should take action now, if you wanna be sure.
There are more models labelled orange, than models labelled green (in stock).

They’ve also permanently closed their locations in Texas. Support has told people that no new models are coming. Looks like they’re not even still manufacturing existing models, since some of their most popular models have been moved into the “discontinued” area. They’re just staying in business long enough to sell off their existing stock, it appears.

I suspect they’ll be officially closed down early in the new year.

Pity. I was a fan-boy. Best thermal designs and efficiency on the market.

I could only find one item in stock. Everything else is backorder or out of stock. That does look like game over.

I emailed Nkon and they replied this :

We’re a distributor of the Zebralights in Europe. As far as I know it shouldn’t have effect. They haven’t told us anything bad these past weeks

One discontinued model on sale is out of stock

7/15 flashlights are in stock, the rest are back ordered

11/19 headlamps are in stock, the rest are back ordered

It has pretty much always been like this.

Without waiting to go off topic, Weltool make quite a few lights with all in one body (reason why I recently bought the T5 to use as a host), but in terms of design finesse, they are far apart.

Glad I bought 2 ZL headlamp and 3 SC64 models in the last year. But now wondering if I should try to snap up other models that I’ve had my eye on before it may be too late

I wouldn’t be that pessimistic, since when I asked them two months ago about the availability of optional tailcaps with magnets, they answered:

"The upcoming A6 will come with magnets. The H600 Mk V, to be released (maybe mid) next year, will have magnets as well as charging ports."

On the other hand, I wrote them today about a defective H501R, and they replied only six hours later , so thumbs up for they support although the reply was "we no longer have the parts/components for repairing the H501 series lights", which I can forgive since my H501R is 11 years old.

I contacted them today too about an out of stock aa model and they told me 4 weeks if I order now.

A user on reddit sent me to this post on CPF

Anyone heard anything? I have pretty much all I want but might pick up another sc64w hi lol.
