What's going on with Zebralight?

Hopefully just false speculation. With Covid, many offices aren’t needed anymore, people work from home. Zebralight stays well below the radar and their 10 year old lights are still relevant today. They don’t need to release a new light every few months. Its totally possible the speculation may be true, but I have faith it’s not the case. Maybe it’s just wishful thinking!

Official site: “Starting Jan 1, 2021, we will accept orders from U.S. customers only.”

That’s very disappointing, I hope Nkon will still carry them.

Wow I had not seen that. I thought the flashlight market was doing decently. Communication has never been their strong suit.

I’ve just looked, and I think you should take action now, if you wanna be sure.
There are more models labelled orange, than models labelled green (in stock).

They’ve also permanently closed their locations in Texas. Support has told people that no new models are coming. Looks like they’re not even still manufacturing existing models, since some of their most popular models have been moved into the “discontinued” area. They’re just staying in business long enough to sell off their existing stock, it appears.

I suspect they’ll be officially closed down early in the new year.

Pity. I was a fan-boy. Best thermal designs and efficiency on the market.

I could only find one item in stock. Everything else is backorder or out of stock. That does look like game over.

I emailed Nkon and they replied this :

We’re a distributor of the Zebralights in Europe. As far as I know it shouldn’t have effect. They haven’t told us anything bad these past weeks

One discontinued model on sale is out of stock

7/15 flashlights are in stock, the rest are back ordered

11/19 headlamps are in stock, the rest are back ordered

It has pretty much always been like this.

Without waiting to go off topic, Weltool make quite a few lights with all in one body (reason why I recently bought the T5 to use as a host), but in terms of design finesse, they are far apart.

Glad I bought 2 ZL headlamp and 3 SC64 models in the last year. But now wondering if I should try to snap up other models that I’ve had my eye on before it may be too late

I wouldn’t be that pessimistic, since when I asked them two months ago about the availability of optional tailcaps with magnets, they answered:

"The upcoming A6 will come with magnets. The H600 Mk V, to be released (maybe mid) next year, will have magnets as well as charging ports."

On the other hand, I wrote them today about a defective H501R, and they replied only six hours later , so thumbs up for they support although the reply was "we no longer have the parts/components for repairing the H501 series lights", which I can forgive since my H501R is 11 years old.

I contacted them today too about an out of stock aa model and they told me 4 weeks if I order now.

A user on reddit sent me to this post on CPF

Anyone heard anything? I have pretty much all I want but might pick up another sc64w hi lol.

I just had an SC64c LE shipped to me. Had to wait a couple weeks due to backorder but seems like they are still operating as normal.

Yep, just got one as well. 604d on the way (shipping notice) too.

I just ordered a H503c, and all appeared normal during the process — which is to say a very annoying checkout procedure, but — normal.

I’ve had the H503w for years, and it gets more use than any other headlight. If it goes south, I want a spare Zebralight headlight!

From my recent experience, backorder may just mean a few days lead time. It doesn’t hurt to email Zebralight, I got a quick response confirming my headlamp would go out after a few days.

I don’t see a ton of reason to think anything is wrong with Zebralight. Backorder has been the way they work for a while - it’s typically short. A lot of models probably got discontinued because the XHP35 got discontinued, and they were using it a bunch.

Number of models in stock at NKON are (slowly) rising.
Few weeks ago they were down to just a few models.

FIY folks:

I ordered a H53c on the very last day when it was still possible to order for non-US customers, i.e. on Dec 31.

The light was shipped on Jan. 5, then the tracking "Airlines start shipping" on Jan. 13.

Then no more updates for the following two months, so I contacted ZL who immediately replied, asking me to wait two more week, before they issuing a refund (thumbs up ZL).

One week later the tracking was updated (arrival in France), and I received the light today, i.e. exactly 11 weeks after it was shipped.
