【convoy】H4 and B35AM options are updated

I did solder a 8x driver to a brass pill for a S2 mod once, and it was a total mess :
As the pill takes all the heat, the solder won’t stick to it, I finally succeeded using open flame soldering, getting the whole pill enough heat that it could melt solder by contact … worked fine but the result is not pretty

Yeah, not so nice but it’s working

Much better than what I came up with !!

I found that the solder on sticks to the top surface of the pill

Thank you. I will try this myself.

ferrat_val you can solder to pills with heat guns. I for example own a 650W PG8018LCD, and it rocks:

Bought it here long ago (not affiliated).

A heat gun is in any case a very recommendable tool for electronics work.

Perhaps opportunistic, but do AliExpress coupons stack with discounts that Simon may give? I’ve got a project I’m working on, and am trying to do it in the most cost efficient way I can.

I recently got an M3 from Banggood in a flash sale not realising that a version with ramping (and charging!) had finally been released.

Yes it does. Apply your coupons, select some alternative payment method you can discard and then proceed to message Simon. Done.

Thanks, will give it a try.

Edit:: hmm looks like I can only do credit card or PayPal. I might have missed earlier in the thread if you do PayPal and then just not pay….?

You must see WebMoney, choosing WebMoney works. Choosing PayPal should also work no problem. Just dismiss the payment page in any case.

Alternatively, you can use AliExpress application 8.4.0 or earlier. With it you can select “other payment methods”, the archetypical way. The app checks for updates just on startup, it counts the number of times it asks you to update and after a number of refusals it ends up forcing you to update (or clear }) application data). This is solved by launching the app while on airplane mode, while it shows the launching advertisement. As I've found many times, old versions of software can be better.

Yeah, WebMoney doesn’t appear for me.

Looks like it’s a moot point now; the coupon I had was for Black Friday and has now expired, it seems. I’ll send Simon a message at some stage.

Simon, does the M21C tailcap fit on the M21C-U?

Can somebody help me please? I had M21B with SST40 for some time then bought S21B with CULPM1.TG and decided to switch leds - install SST40 into S21B and CULPM1.TG into M21B. I have replaced leds, but faced a problem with gaskets - the one from S21B is too small for SST40 and the one from M21B is too big for CULPM1.TG. What gasket should I order for SST40 in S21B and for CULPM1.TG in M21B?

To the best of my knowledge, M21B opening is 9mm, and S21B is 7mm. So 9mm 4040 and 7mm 5050.

Is it possible to add a backlit button (or something like that) to my convoy c8+ with Biscotti firmware?

Unless you are using it with single mode, or
unless you mod the driver with a resistor, or
unless the new drivers are prepared to be used with a lighted tailcap…
I would say “no”, because it will jam the modes order (wether you have memory configured or not).

Using Biscotti with lighted tailcaps will make it jump when you turn OFF/turn ON the light. Specially if you are used to always start in the lowest/highest modes of the sequence. If you don’t care about it turning ON in a random mode, go for it

Thanks,

I am glad, that not only me, but other people are saying this. (I already made here a warning few weeks before, as I had experience with a build including this emitter.)

For small bodies like S2+, 4×7135 should be the best (I’d go with the 5-30-100% plain old but good driver).
For a Convoy C8+, I think, 6×7135 would be a sweet spot, maybe 8×7135, if somebody goes for the safe maximum output.

lighted switch is compatible with any drivers except 7135 biscotti
