[Available again! - BLF special edition light] new Sofirn AAA twisty high CRI 5mm LED

I like my Orange Sophias so much, that I just ordered half a dozen more.

They make great gifts. And great spare battery carriers for my other favorite aaa lightsā€¦ the copper Toolsā€¦

I cant think of another High CRI light with a warm floody beam, for such a bargain price as the C01.

Its a great way to share my love for High CRI.

Congratulations to everyone who contributed to making these lights possible. :+1:

I think a Copper and Titanium version would be very popular.

Yesterday I received my latest order of C01 lights (with the new led) + 1 CO1S !
3 of them will be given to kids of friends (blue, green, orange all with diffusers).
The other orange C01 and the orange C01S will be kept

Hereā€™s the whole collection, with the original black / red / blue C01 (top right), the ā€œsandblastedā€ C01S (middle bottom), and a red C01R (right bottom)

Things I would like to note (sorry if someone did it before):

- the colour of the new Sophia led is different (3400K vs 3200K of tyhe previous), is less warm than the Yuji, and outer edge of the side spill seems to be slighly greenish, unlike the Yuji that has no variations

- it also has a narrower ā€œhotspotā€, if compared with the red/blue C01 with Yujis (the original black versions that had a completely ā€œflatā€ beam no hotspots)

- I thought the orange was a little darker, but Iā€™m ok with this colour

  • the new blue is also darker than the original one, and the green is probably the best anodizing colour

I used the WB at 5000K.

The beam

Comparison with:
3200K Yuji (black) >>> 3200K Yuji (red) >>> 5600K Yuji (black)

Left to right
3200K Yuji (black ) >>> 3400K Sophia (orange) >>> 3200K Yuji (red) >>> 5600K Yuji (black )

:+1:

really fun lights

> the original black versions that had a completely ā€œflatā€ beam no hotspots

I think the cause of the hotspot in later versions, is a more shiny aluminium reflector cone

I guess so or maybe the leds are in a different position towards the reflector! And indeed, they are really funny lights. I guess this orange one will be a ā€œuserā€, and Iā€™ll keep the others as ā€œrelicsā€

What would be the best way for the potted versions to sand the reflector (and LED)? Just try it all assembled? Or push out the driver (just press on the LED)?

+5

Can anyone verify latest (non potted) C01 have orings around emitter at cone base?

yes, per post 3174

Yes.

As I recall, there was one report of one C01 from the first batch not having an o-ring around the led and this incident has been quoted many times in this thread, and as things go nowadays, things that are repeated enough become the new reality.

Yes, both the potted and unpotted C01 have o-rings,

yes orings,

Its just incredible, there are Orings,

and on all kinds of Sofirn C01 there are O-Rings
This is very important,

because the fake news is not reporting it,

there IS an O-Ring around the 5mm LED :innocent:

we will be presenting the evidence later

Thanks Allā€¦ So Iā€™ll take it as a YES? LOL

Edit: All of page 106 is about orings confirmation and potting infoā€¦
Hot damn, Glad I ordered Black and Green!

glad youre happy you ordered potted lights

I avoid black flashlights,

I ordered Orange, with O Ringsā€¦ lol

I dont think I need my lights to be potted, I like Orange with O Rings
(I hope nobody asks if they can order O ringsā€¦ lol)

This UnPotted C01 seems plenty durable enough for me:

Now I hate that it was me.

 It was not you who made a widespread rumour out of your remark, that was all the people who half-read it or even only read the replies.

I am hearing now on CPF some of the supplied head orings maybe thicker, or thinner, than what was, or is currently supplied lolā€¦ I think itā€™s pretty cool they offer spares thick or thinā€¦

In case you missed it, my son (older and stronger in the meantime) did an even more brutal test on the 2020 version, although this time it was a potted one. Looked very beaten-up but remained fully functional after the test.

When I received mines (from Sofirn site), I tested an orange one (which doesnā€™t seem to be potted).
Threw it up to the air in my room for 2 or 3 times, let it fall on the floor andā€¦still works
It just got 2 small bruises in the head :innocent:

Love C01 but not the Red Led version.
Irregular beam with artefacts
Led is not centered, maybe miss Oring

Thanks for the video djozz!

Very convincing durable little puppies, and the aaa lights are too! (-;

No!
