[Available again! - BLF special edition light] new Sofirn AAA twisty high CRI 5mm LED

Yes, heat in the beggining and start taking chips of it. When you feel you’re close to electronics then soak it in thiner.
This method was used back in the days with Fenix E01 and Inova X5

For do that better high pressure on Led head or hammering?
Think will be not easy, will try to heat a bit also

Yes, heating it up will help getting it out more gently, this one had an already destroyed driver so I did not bother with heat, bold on the led and full force with a hammer.

The die of Red Led is tiny, sand surface can correct the beam irregulary
but not increase much flood. It need to be cut as I do on rngwn Led
that is super floody now.
Would ask sofirn to made C01 Red unpotted if not too late.

Ladies, those lights are $3.99 each - including O-ring. Not sure it pays to crack open the epoxy pot.

Yeah, and then missing all the fun? This is BLF, with a big B!

A few days ago I used scotch-brite on one of my red C01 (led, and reflector) and it did soften the artifacts. I’ll take better pictures, and upload tonight… I’m not happy with how they turned out.

Do you gain a little flood or hotspot is focussed as before?

Do you consider it useless from a medical point of view also? I remember you had an application for migraine treatment.

If Sofirn do another batch of C01 sublumen / high modes with reversible UI
and ask Led supplier to made also 2000k option would be the cream. Will buy 10

It smoothed out the beam, so it’s more even, and a little dimmer. To me, that’s not a bad thing when it comes to 670nm.
Please excuse the missing edges of the beams. I was using a piece of white poster board that wasn’t flat.

The hotspot is still a little overexposed.

These are 10 inches away from the board.

Mod on the left. Stock on the right.

Good result,thanks for share.
Does you have removed Led from host or you successful sanded already installed?
Also the cone seem sanded

Yes, I consider the very low output, 0.4 lumens per djozz (1.4 lumens on my meter), of the C01 670nm, to be weaker than I prefer.

I like the second mode on the C01R, which on my meter is 10 lumens, for red light therapy.

the eyesight study used 20 lumens 670nm red, I consider that more than necessary. imo 5 to 10 lumens of 660nm red is plenty bright enough for my application.

I put the light directly on my painful arthritis. For migraine the light is shined into the nose.

Barry said this is the last batch of C01

thanks for the photos

per djozz, the sanded LED is now 0.2 lumens (half as bright as before)

I did it installed. Just took some scotch-brite, a pair of ESD-15 curved tweezers, and ran it across the led. Every once and a while I would turn it on to check my progress. Same thing with the reflector.

I’ve been trying the C01R on my arthritis, but it hasn’t helped it. Maybe the cause is keeping it from working? To me, the C01 670nm is better as a reading light. I have one with my notebook cover for when I need to write something down.

A couple more C01 “potting” datapoints. I just received a green and an orange moments ago. The green is potted, the orange is not. They’re very nice; I’m very pleased with the purchase.

10 LM from the SST20 or XPE C01R?
There are difference betwin them on modes brightness?

Nice comparisons MascaratumB! Any suggestions on how to diffuse the hotspot?

just a few posts further up this same page
look for the pics of red beams

Oh oops, replied before reading subsequent posts
