Anyone know of a way to tighten up side play in a Boker Kalashnikov. Tried tightening up the screw till the knife wouldn’t deploy but even then it still had the same amount of side play, so backed off till it just would deploy. Seemed no amount of screw adjustment changed anything in the blade side play. Can shims be added…?
Or is this just the way these cheap autos are…? To bad, as its a light easy to carry edc that deploys with authority. Got the Boker Strike Plus and it has no side play, none, but feels much heavier…?
Could it be because I got the left handed Kalashnikov…? I’m ambidextrous so got the Strike in right hand and Kalashnikov in left handed for $34 at Grindworx. Would that make a difference in side play…?
Guess even with the .015” side play still like the knife, especially for the budget price. It feels good in the hand.
Do you have some recommendations about knives with that quite rare set of characteristics (and yes, i think there are not so many ones like this) :
- (required) Knife being openable with a flipper mechanizm
- (required) Lock system being either axis-lock, button-lock, … but neither liner-lock nor frame-lock
- (required) Knife to still be easily internationaly orderable
- (would be nice) No thumb stud
(would be nice) Not too expensive
There is really not a lot of models with these characteristics (obviously because the flipper / axis-lock combination is maybe a bit “contradictory”, with the lock system reducing the effectiveness of the flipper opening) :
Other than that, a few models have been produced, but rather difficult to find nowadays (like a few Benchmade models, for example the “Benchmade Axis Flipper”, sadly discontinuied as far as i know Amazon.com).
Was about to write that. Btw OP, the Mordax is sold by drop.com
There is also the Protech Malibu which has gotten great reviews, but doesn’t seem to be in stock anywhere atm.
Just bought a Buck 501 Squire for my 13 year old Godson, his first knife.
I remember my Brother bought me a Buck 110 as my first knife at the age of 16. Used it for many years then lost it in the Quakees in Utah.
And a Buck 119 leather sheath, as mine is fudged up.
Been carrying the Mordax for 2 weeks. Very fast break in period. Been in front pocket with my phone which has caused some ano to rub off. Ano is weak, but the this knife is the shit! Very happy with it! :sunglasses:
Some of the latest models are overpriced but the quality is very good. The 9202 is similar to a paramilitary 2 with superb quality but I still prefer the Land 155 with ball bearings.
I like more the 1168 model, a bit like a tenacious?. Well, the little 7228 seems me a beauty, it is like a happy folding knife and make me feel happy too.
Battery Junction had the Ruike 801 on sale during it's black friday sale for 21$ and I had a pair in my cart but got disgusted with Black friday after spending about an hour trying to buy about150$ worth of lights from Armytek who apparently doesn't ship to the United States . Shut my computer off and gave up on the idea of spending anything . totally forgot about the knives .
